We were 4th in the nation?

Rewatching the game, they mention that we were 4th in blocks this year(coming into the Alabama game). Seems odd considering our defensive woes this year. Was that correct?

That's not necessarily a good thing, it means our guards are getting beat on D and opposing players are getting to the rim and Ugo is having to swat them away.

Not that I disagree with that, but Cal has always done better with guards pressing up more because if you get beat you have a shot blocker and I love having elite shot blocking and playing up on your man.

What I don't like about the stat is we get burned all the time by multiple people going for the block and the other team immediately grabbing the miss and just laying it in because we aren't there to box out. It even happens to us when we successfully block the shot...

I agree, it's nice and a luxury to have a such a good shot blocker. It would be OK if the other positions were not struggling on defense all year.
