I'm not against either, however the toughest play to defend at any level(HS, College or Pro) is leaking the RB out through the line for a simple dump over the middle. There is always a second or two where he is uncovered. Also a quick slant over the middle, a drag rout over the middle and the TE. All of these plays/routes are short high % passes for positive yards and they build confidence for your QB. and they will certainly improve the stat sheet. I don't remember any of the plays Sat. I watched Baylor create a highlight reel out of these during their first game.

I will be concerned if what we saw Saturday is all we see this Saturday. Go Cats!!

The playbook will obviously expand.

To be fair, they tried to hit Boom on a short screen in the middle of the field. Stoops has said that we'll get Conrad involved in the passing game as well, but we definitely need to play a lot like we did in the first half Saturday. South Carolina has a ton of blown coverages. One route that needs to be used a lot in this game is the post. South Carolina has some weak safeties.

This is what I saw while at the game Saturday. Our offense was extremely one dimensional and are passing game was the long throw or nothing. I'm hoping they weren't trying to show anything for this week's game, but I'm not really optimistic that is the case.

ULL was sending 7 against 5 o-lineman and one RB. Someone was always running free at the qb. The WR's were in one on one coverage most of the game. The long pass was there. Towles connected on them in the first half. Not so much in the second.

I'd be more concerned about our defense if I were you all.

This offense will look different from one week to the next. It depends on what the defense is giving Dawson. We threw verticals because they were in press man and Dawson liked the match up. If one play is there he will run it until it's not.

Totally agree with that take on the gameplan.

- ULL was taking a safety and putting him 4 yards off LOS most of first half to take away the run. Dawson did exactly what fans have been screaming for...to throw deep vs. a bunch of short dinks/dunks. We hit a ton of big plays in first half and not so much 2nd half....but the gameplan was accurate to me most of the night.
- I hope to see Conrad get some balls...but I don't think it was a big deal. Let's be fair...you force the ball to Conrad you take balls away from Badet (who was behind the defense the entire night), Dorian Baker who didn't get much action, Juice Johnson who may be our best WR, Bone who is our biggest WR, Timmons who is our best WR running after the catch..not to mention Boom out of the backfield. We have a bunch of weapons...Conrad may have to wait his turn a bit.

Have to agree that the offense will morph week to week. In addition, it seems reasonable to assume that Dawson was also trying to limit the next two opponents' look at the playbook. That is another reason he often states he will stick with one play until it no longer works. That is just good Poker, not just in one game, but over the span of several games. The less you let people look at what you might do, even if only finally limiting the number of samples, the better. You don't call a diversity of plays unless you must.

As for Conrad, one of two things happened there. Either we went in to the game determined to keep him under wraps until this week, or just as likely, Dawson started chatting him up in warm ups, got the sense he was a little stage struck, and decided to let him spectate for at least one game in front of 60k+ before pushing him out on the stage when he must, or feels he is a bit more acclimated. He attended a small HS. That was probably x20 the number of people he had ever seen from inside a uni. This would not be unusual to my way of thinking.
