We have leadership that doesn’t want to embrace NIL the way other SEC schools do. Then a coach that is incapable without a talent advantage.

That’s a recipe for disaster. One or the other needs to go.

Eli and Mitch need a great X and O guy.
Cal needs leaders that will do MORE than his rivals are willing to do.

They need to part ways asap. They could do better, in today’s college landscape, without each other.
I asked this question in another thread.
Did UK have people with an NIL checkbook book open and were told thanks but no thanks by Cal?

Just not sure on that. I don’t think UK football or basketball has people lined up to pay millions for players like some of these other schools.

So we have to adjust. I would suggest coach/develop your team.

The problem is the players don't want NIL, they want a salary

If we can't/won't compete WRT to NIL in basketball (13 scholarships, 5 starters) then there is no F'ing-way we can/will in football (63 scholarships, 22 starters), especially considering the rest of our conference is football obsessed while we are basketball obsessed.

Time will tell but Stoops learned real fast you better have great coaches on staff with less NIL $ being given out. He has two great ones on staff now.

Brady knows what he is talking about with NIL.

It is pretty clear it is an issue at UK.
Brady also makes common sense NIL deals with his business.
He's not giving any kid a million dollars.
Some may disagree but I don't support buying back Antonio Reeves.
Here's a kid who would be a borderline 3rd round pick so he wants to come back to college and be paid like he's an NBA player. No thanks.

We can compete in football due to good coaching. We already had to outfox most sec teams due to them having overall better players and talented depth. It's definitely going to be a balancing act going forward.

And in football you have apples to oranges expectations and no one will care if Stoops never wins the sec east or sec. If we win 7 to 9 games a year and make 12 team playoff once n a bluemoon he is a legend. Obviously at bama or Uga that wouldn't fly but different schools, different sets if expectations.

Same here with basketball. When cal leaves if the new coach isn't getting it done due to NIL it will be a problem for him too.

You got the coaching part right, the only way Cal can win is to have a roster loaded with 4 or 5 NBA first rounders and a couple of second rounders on the bench.

Cal can’t say yes or no to NIL. He can only insist that it be compliant with NCAA regulations.
He can when it's fake NIL, which is what Dickinson's "package" would have been.
Putting together an NIL deal is no different than fundraising, Cal is in contact with the select few who can make a lucrative NIL deal happen.

I notice it didn’t. Likely because the money isn’t there. And what is “fake” NIL. This should be funny.

Yeah.. no such thing as a NIL coordinator at UK... funny UK just hired one a week ago for Women's Bball.... so evidently UK thinks they are missing something. You just make stuff up as you go...

This is 100% correct....But.... and you probably know the staff better than i do, but Stoops adjusted and made it public they needed help on NIL.

Simple.
Being paid or grossly overpaid for a person's name, image and likeness when the payee gets no benefits from such.
It's basically money laundering.

They have really good deals on aluminum foil at Walmart. That’s a big load of crap.

But we don’t “compete” we beat 3-4 sec teams with losing league records. We lose most matchups against comparable talent and make our annual irrelevant bowl game on the back of a joke OOC schedule and the bottom of the SEC barrel. We play a hyper conservative brand of football that’s meant to keep the floor low and stoops is a decent custodian. But we shouldn’t pretend we are competing for anything beyond second in the division (or sloppiest/most out of shape coaching staff). Right now our rivals for this spot are Tennessee and South Carolina and they’ve both brought in guys who took 1-2 years to surpass the job stoops has done in ten.

Go become one of their fans then, we won’t miss you.

Laugh!!!! Does he use the fake NIL or maybe stealth Nil. Or maybe it’s the real NIL that he pretend is fake? The truth is out there…..
Go do an NIL deal with a UK player and make sure to pay way over market value and see what you're ROI is.
