OSU played with a level of energy that we didn't match , they wanted this win and probably won't play that hard again this season . Our team has got to understand this , you cannot come out like its a regular game . You can get away with it against bad teams but that usually won't work on power conference teams . We have a long ways to go and it's going to be a rocky ride but I think we'll be fine in the end .

I totally agree! Two of the things I always pay attention to in a basketball game are hustle and boxing out. UK had periods of hustle by one or two people, but not all five on the floor at once. Cats constantly got beat to loose balls because they half assed it while OSU ripped the ball out of traffic. NONE of our bigs put a body on ANYBODY when the shot goes up, they depend on their length and athletic ability to get the rebound and then they get beat to the ball. Playing with no heart or will to win will make a long season for this team. Hopefully they will turn it around soon though.

You didn't watch that game if you think that we didn't play hard. Our guys competed but failed to play smart. Our defense is strong and aggressive but it's deflating when you can't secure the rebound. Ohio made shots and the way to combat that is to weather the storm and run good offense to keep it close. We lost that game on the offensive end in the first half. We played well enough in the second half to win but dug too big of a hole.

winner winner!!!!!

Skal needs to be a backup. Briscoe needs to be the PG and Ulis the SG because Ulis' shooting is much better as a catch and shoot guy. Plus Cal needs to put more focus on coaching Wynyrd and Humphries up than Skal.

We also need Lee and Poythress to stop getting into foul trouble..... it happens every game

You didn't watch......I did.... that game if you think that .........and...we didn't play hard. Our guys competed but failed to play..... hard...smart. Our defense is strong and aggressive but it's deflating when you can't secure the rebound........because you are so soft...... Ohio made shots and the way to combat that is to weather the storm and run good offense to keep it close. We lost that game on the offensive end in the first half .......due to lack of 100% effort..... We played well enough in the second half to win but dug too big of a hole.

Well , I did watch the game and we didn't play hard. That's how we dug that hole you speak of. I also noticed that in 6 years of posting, 2 posters have agreed with you......you're not trying very hard.:weary:

It takes all 5 on the floor hustling 100% of the time and not just one or two hustling in spurts. UK had their MOMENTS of hustle plays but were consistently beat to loose balls and rebounds. Re watch that game and notice the difference in OSU going after the ball and ripping it away from a UK player. Until this team plays with heart and a will to win its going to be tough for them. Can't always depend on skill and athleticism.

wow! skal needs PT and needs to be coached up for our chances in march. the ball needs to flow through murray and skal (screen and rolls and facing basket) and less touches for briscoe and ulis.

If you watched that and thought we matched OSU's intensity , then you don't know what you're looking at . You can't play standard effort basketball at UK , teams want to beat the team with the pros more than any team on their schedule . Every player marks the UK game and brings a 300 at Thermopylae effort , either match it or lose .

I agree with you and Calipari said as much in the post game. We played hard in the second half, but not the first.

We didn't play hard the 1st half and didn't play smart in either. Poy, Ulis and Briscoe had bad games. We could (and did) survive that last year, but not this year.
