We are Back To Verticals and Soon, Wingspans

Joey Hart is listed around 6'6"; if he has the best hops on the team and can shoot
at all he should have been given a chance to play some of Edwards' minutes this
year.
Cant he just be red-shirted? Give him an extra year of eligibility? What we should be doing. Recruiting guys you know will be good- in 3 to 4 years, get them paid with NIL and preserving that year when it counts and they can contribute.
age matters correct. This team - instead of freshmen, imagine Wagner Edwards' Reed Bradshaw Dilly were all sophomores. Probably wouldn't lose a game.

With ccc as coach?

He might be eligible for a redshirt. I can only remember him playing in a handful of games, mainly with
the walkons. Of course this is Kentucky so he'll probably just transfer.

I also would like to understand more about why Hart didn't play more even just for development purposes (e.g., when against an overmatched opponent or the game was already decided). I wouldn't expect much playing time his freshman year, but it seems he could have gotten more run than he did. All the ingredients for a good college player appear to be there. The history of being a really good high school player is there. UK wouldn't have recruited him if he didn't have a lot of potential. Unless Hart just has no motor or zero basketball IQ, then I fail to see why a coach wouldn't love the opportunity to develop this guy.

Because ccc doesn't believe in giving kids the opportunity unless they are 5 stars

Which, sadly, would be a reason UK will continue to fail to be a threat for a championship - or probably even a conference title.

I really hope not. I really hope he's a five year kid. Great NIL. Bless the kid, I hope he's good enough to go to the NBA but seems a little unlikely...now Who knows 4 years from now.

If I was a kid who maybe didn't have the measurements or athleticism to be in the NBA, Id red shirt. maybe be one of these amazing studs who can make a difference as an older player. Transfer to power 5-6 school and make really good money. or stay at a top school who can get you amazing NIL for 5 years. If I was a kid growing up in this era, Id try to extend my earnings as long as possible

I think he fell out of favor with Cal when he began blocking Edwards's shots in practice. I've watched several of Joey's high school games via you tube and saw him take over games in the final minutes when the game was on the line. He reminded me of freshman/sophomore Jeff Sheppard. I think he has great potential but will never get to develop under Cal who will continue to play his 5 stars regardless of their shortcomings. This should be a fireable offense.
