Well the sun came up this morning and UK football is still here and still bad and I'm still pissed ! However after reading Troll and Sean's posts on their campaign to nowhere I decided to join fray .
Personally I think bashing the coaching staff from now until February signing day is very counter productive and you are actually hurting the very thing you want to improve. Stoops makes millions of dollars so I would think the pressure of keeping such a well paying job will in the end force changes ,unless he decides to just draw a check for another year or so but that's unlikely in my opinion.
So I'm left with the dilemma of who to blame and it has to be the Athletics board and department because they are the constant for the past 60 to 70 years . They are the inventors of the Ponzi scheme that is UK football. In public they say they think they can have winning football and they support it but in private they giggle and say things like our fans just don't get it and we will never win in football. In public they ask for support for up grades and donations but in private they admit to just trying to do enough to stay in SEC and get the check for participating . In public they say they want to say they want to compete for championship in private they just say go to a bowl every couple years so we can fire a coach ever 8 years instead of every 4. It never changes so I think the whole department and its directors need to be changed out.
Now as far as what a internet board can do not much but you can apply pressure but be constructive think of topics that need to be addressed I for one had two thoughts yesterday while setting in the rain watching that fiasco . I posted them in another post but I apologize for being redundant but here they go and I hope others take these topics and others to keep asking questions and producing answers or opinions .
1) What is the loss in revenues for the city of Lexington hotels, restaurants and bars for the last two weekends poor crowds ? Should be someone out there who knows . This weekend was a holiday weekend which could skew it a little but it would be interesting to see the numbers from the first 6 home games and the last 2. The numbers for the Thursday night game would be interesting since it was a full house on a weeknight so should be interesting to see its impact on a none tradional night .
2) A pet peeve of mine is that the Athletics department is reactive not pro active and does stupid things trying to catch up. I for 7 home games looked at the recruiting room patio and wondered at the lack of seating and the lack of ability to make older parents and family comfortable outside in stadium during pre game activities . Then yesterday at the last home game "bam" "boom" the caped crusaders of college athletics department placed several comfortable sectional sofas on patio and left them there the whole game. Lol Except it was pouring the rain as far as I could see no one ever put on rubber pants and enjoyed the plush comforts of soaked sectional couches! Some people are just exceptional brainstormers Lol.
