This is always my favorite part of the basketball season, as we see some of the pre-season bullsheet narratives about UK or our players spouted by rival fans and the media fall by the wayside.
Just three games in the season, we've seen two completely disproven already, with a few more ready to topple.
Proven wrong:
1. Three PGs can't play together. Does anyone still think the Ulis, Murray, Briscoe backcourt isn't shaping up to be a great combo?
2. K is beating Cal at the OAD game/Cal's recruiting is slipping. I think this week alone turned that one upside down.
About to topple:
1. Narrative: Briscoe is over-rated, will not be drafted, etc. Status: I'm loving Briscoe's game and attitude. I also love that Cal is working on Briscoe's game with the intent of turning him into a better pro prospect. The fact is - no other college coach does this. The focus of most coaches is just teaching guys their system and fitting them in to it, and if you don't you're on the bench. That's what happens at Kansas - and is why Oubre spent most of the first two months of last year on the bench and Alexander never left it. It's what happens at Louisville, and is why a guy like Blackshear never developed skills outside his role on the offense that could have made him an NBA prospect.
2. Narrative: Marcus Lee is one of Cal's busts. Status: I think Lee has been great thus far, and I see his game evolving with the increased playing time. I think by the end of the year, he's going to be wowing us on a regular basis.
Other narratives waiting to be proven wrong?
