First off let me just say DJ has been really good recently at finishing at the basket and he’s an elite level driver, if he can finish when he gets there (vs the beginning of the year when it seemed like nothing could go down for him). Love having him as a part of our squad.
Would be interested to hear some educated takes from here at HOB on a thought I’m having while watching us play — does DJ Wagner make those around him better? He doesn’t seem to really look for his teammates in the way you would hope your starting point guard would. At only 3.5 assists per game that’s not a great number for your starting point guard. He’s a score first point which is fine, we’ve had others here that were successful as that (Brandon Knight for example, but even Knight averaged over 4 apg). I’m just curious to what you all see and wondering if it’s different than what I see. I don’t feel like DJ is making the rest of his teammates better in the way I would want my point guard to do.
Thoughts? Am I off base?
