We need some commits, but I think the fiasco we just went through and the closed season delayed us quite a bit and most of the higher rated recruits can afford to wait, and some of them will end up looking around as their first choices fill up.

Hard to figure the plusses and minuses of the bird in hand vs potential, but I am glad we still have some openings plus some that we are favored for.

Anybody know if UK will get a Darrin Hall visit?
From reports, Not looking good for Hall.
UK took a gamble by going all in on the Running Back Who Shall Remain Nameless. May be paying a price for it now. Was worth the risk however.

As it turned out it wasn't.

On the other hand I wonder which recruits are enjoying the basketball game more today, UK presently doubling the score at 29 to 14, on their floor.

I'm sure it looked like it was a gamble in hindsight but I believe it was the only way to handle a 5 star recruit from your own state. You had to show him that HE was the player we wanted and hope that it meant something to him by doing this. If we were coming off of 8-5 records and a couple of bowl wins, I don't believe you go so all out but our situation was way different.

^agree Poe. All things considered they played it the only way they could. Gotta close the deal in the future.

I don't know if this is really true or not. That being said, I don't think it was worth it, nor am I a fan of recruiting in this manner. I like the idea of going after several players you are comfortable that you can win with and telling them how many players you are going to take and the first players to commit get the spots. If we had recruited RB like that, we may have gotten a commit from a very good back instead of playing catch up now.

Kind of hard to say what really happened. Pretty obvious that he wasn't that scared of competition or he wouldn't have gone to a loaded program with excellent returning talent and a 5.9 and another BIG five star that were going to have a spring training advantage on him.

So why didn't the coaches have someone else they were trying to get, unless they were pretty sure they had him. I don't think the coaches can comment on recruits until they sign, and probably wouldn't anyway. I doubt if they knew Heard was going to try the draft, but still---

I really hope Clemons has completed his recover and is looking good, because he deserves it and because we might need him.

jauk & cat in the hat = monday morning QBs. How do you know that the coaches didn't have a plan B? I'm sure if you were a head coach, you would always make the perfect decision that no one would question later.

Of course Cat in the Hat and I both knew whether they had a plan B or not, the coaches just told us to keep it a secret. LOL

Agree Poe. I am wandering if Harris is really watching what is going down at Alabama and continuing to think about UK. Alabama keeps recruiting over kids and keeps cutting them. I have a feeling they told Harris they would cut some of their guys ahead of time - but I wonder if he really considers how good those guys were coming out of high school.

One can only hope and also hope that the staff is working on Harris quietly in a positive way.

Go Big Blue!

Read this morning per Alabama sophomore r. b. Altee Tenpenny Twitter account: "Past two years have been great. It's time to start a new chapter." Past season Tenpenny rushed for 136 yards on 26 carries. He was top r.b. in State of Arkansas but chose Crimson Tide over Razorbacks. Since at Bama Saban is known for over recruiting, and he does it well!

who says hes not scared of competition. our 4th team running back is going pro

The same thing happens in every program.

I will have to disagree with you on that. Being Kentucky, you go all out, pedal to the metal any time you have a 5 star recruit in your own back yard. We can't afford not to roll out the red carpet for our home grown talent. We have to keep our best ones in the Bluegrass, before we can get the best from anywhere else.

So no matter if we are coming off 10 straight bowl games, you still invest in talent like Harris to try and get him into the fold.
