Vince Marrow on Stoops

Nah let him coach the basketball team too. They’d be chippy and physical as hell. May not win every game but other team would know they had been in a fist fight. Bet he’d hire a guy to coach the offense up too.
Gran could help basketball with a fast paste offense. At least they could run with the ball instead of playing stall ball.

Up until this past year, the offenses were very similar. Run it up the middle and hope to score enough to let the defense win the game. Very little passing involved. Both offenses occasionally tried to take a long shot, but neither was accurate enough to be effective at it. But the Football staff saw that you have to get a good field/floor leader and modernize to move the ball to be successful. I’m waiting on the Basketball staff to understand that.

Interesting thought exercise. What hoops coach would CMS be most like and whose teams would he emulate? Frank Martin maybe?

I’d say like St Peters. Plays with a HUGE chip on their shoulder doesn’t back down and plays scrappy and physical. Takes what the other team gives them offensively, plays tough defensively and outplays their expectations and star ratings. Comes off kinda cocky even tho nobody gave em a chance, us against them mentality.

I think CMS has a lot of characteristics that other successful CFB coaches possess as well. The biggest difference that I see is his loyalty. He has had a lot of success here and he wants to see it through to the end. He will likely be the best coach ever for UK Football, and hold that title for a long time.

I believe there could of been a few others ,Jimbo, Smart ,Saban and that Jackass that left Ohio st

From a strength, conditioning, and physical fitness perspective, you need look no further than UK BB's own Joe B. Hall. Back in the day, Hall took a page from Nebraska's FB weight training program and created hardwood monsters that looked more like FB players than BB players. His recruits/players included some big bangers like Robey, Phillips, Lee, Guyette, Turpin, Walker, Verderber, Aleksinas, Bearup, Bennett, and who can forget Charles "Atlas" Hurt. Shoot...even smaller frame guys like Hord, Goose, and Dirk looked like CFB DB's.

I think CMS' BB teams would play hard-nosed fundamental D, would relish mixing it up down low, blocking out and rebounding, would set picks and screens that would rattle your teeth. Whether they would win enough at UKBB standards.....who knows, but they would "out-physical you" to achieve victory if they could....much like UKBB's late Joe B.

GBB!
