Theyve played two quality teams out of conference. The lost badly to UVA and got demolished by Oklahoma yet they are going to be #1 over-all. The NCAA really needs to over-haul the selection process. The way they seed teams is crazy. How often does the #1 over all get the best road? How often is it obvious to everyone that a team is over-seeded and only given a high seed because of win/loss even though they play no one. Teams like Nova/ Gonzaga should have a 4 seed cap if they don't beat a top 10 team out of conference.

Yeah and they'll get beat by a team like nc state in the second round like last year. I never worry about the fake wildcats.

They're the same team every year. BS high seed only to get bounced early and the tournament committee falls for it every single year.

2015
2014
2010

Those three years they either had a 1 seed or a 2 seed and got beat in the second round.

Every year Villanova builds a team around 3 guards and forgets to recruit big men. They FINALLY remember right around the sweet 16 that they need big men.

The committee does even give the illusion that they're interested in predicting tournament performance. They're quite open about using retrodictive, resume based analysis. Such analysis attempts to judge the quality of wins and losses rather than rate actual performance.

Probably some interest in bringing in eyeballs from the Philly/NY area. Dook has NJ covered.

They're a good team but let's be real, they're a 4/5 not the overall number 1. That's a joke.

Villanova should be seen like other mid majors that fluff their schedules up.

Also played and beat 22-4, RPI Top 25 St Joes on the road.

Villanova is number 1 in Kenpom, Sagarin, and 2 in RPI. Who cares if they got there based on out of conference or conference record. They've earned a one seed.

And they'll always be in the same backet as duke... Giving duke a potentially easier matchup late in the tourney
Zombie lie will never die. Duke does not get preferential treatment in NCAA seedings.

In 2014, Duke was in our region. Shipped to Indianapolis with Wichita State, Michigan, and Louisville. Generally considered the toughest region in the tournament.

In 2013, they were again shipped to the Indianapolis region with #1 seed overall Louisville and close by Top 10 Michigan State.

In 2012 they were put in the same region as us when we were the number one seed overall and Top 10 Baylor.

I want them to be a one seed and us be their 2 seed. :)
Of course we all know Duke is destined for that.

I just want the Louisville region. Don't care about our seed or anyone else's if that happens.

They'll be coming to Cincinnati in the next week or so to play Xavier; that game should tell us something about both teams.

This year more than any I can remember there is a chance for a 16 to beat a 1 seed. I see Duke playing in Greensboro their first round like always.

How dare you, sir, bring actual factual knowledge to Rupp's Rafters and try to dispel what is held true by the majority of posters here?

Beware, we are a strong cadre of partisans...equipped with years and years of ad hominem attack experience, false assumptions, conventional wisdom, and marginal anecdotal evidence coming at an extremely fast paste.

Please be on your way and take your logical precedents with you. We'll have none of that here!

(Duke not treated with favoritism by the NCAA or ESPN...yeah, right. Before long someone will come on here and say Rex and Richie are actually guilty of something.)

Jay Wright was quoted last week as saying if you can't get dominant bigs "like Cal at UK" you have to rely on the 3 point shot as your primarily weapon. Villanova is not going to win the NCAA tournament shooting 30+ 3's a game with no inside game. It's why they bow out early every year....will be the same this year.

Somebody has to be #1. Who is your choice?
Here are the teams I would rank ahead of Villanova right now (not in this order):

Kansas
Oklahoma
Virginia
Kentucky
Duke
Michigan State
Iowa
North Carolina
Maryland (though they are a paper tiger too)
Arizona
Miami

The Big East is more overrated BY FAR then the Big 12 is.
