5dimes has UK an early 13.5 point favorite over LA-Lafayette. O/U at 61. 20% juice on these early lines.

Peace

Vegas wasn't very close with last years season opening line either. UK was only a 21-point favorite against a poor UT-Martin team. The Cats won by 45.

I'm not comparing Lafayette to UT-Martin at all (because ULL is significantly better), but I do think Vegas is off again. Kentucky will absolutely drill ULL.

GBB!!!

ULL has posted 9 wins for what, the last 3 or 4 years. Given how Hudspeth is a bit of a coaching darling, a future HC at a big school that line is showing us respect IMO. I'd be thrilled with a solid 34-20 victory in game 1.

Sorry guys, but I think 13.5 is HIGH for the Cats over ULL. I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole. Just hope for a victory of any kind, as a loss would be disastrous.

They've racked up 9 wins playing in the Sun Belt beating Geargua State and Texas State level teams. When they've played the big boys, with the exception of Arkansas two years ago, they've got thumped. This will be a blowout.

They lost to Appalachian State last year.

By 20.

No way this is closer than two TD's. Not with the talent we have now.

Saw a post where LA Lay had gotten pasted by all the Power 5 conference teams they've played in the past few years. Literally blown out in the first half and then getting some late scores to make it look respectable.

Sorry I don't have link. But I read that here or on House of Blue..... so it has to be accurate, right?

I think UK will win by more than that. ULL is a solid mid major but there is a large gap between mid majors and power conference teams for the most part. During all there 9 win seasons they have never beaten a power conference team.

quick perusal of their recent year results....

2014 - @ Ole Miss - 14-56, @ Boise - 9-34
2013 - @Ark - 14-34, @K St - 27-48
2012 - @Ok St - 65-24, @Fl - 20-27

OK so maybe we should expect to paste them better than by 13.5, lol. Still though, 4 straight years 9 wins, including 4 straight bowl game wins. Not a 1-AA patsy, not a group of losers will will be intimidated.

They had blowout losses to Ole Miss (41points), LaTech, Boise and AppSt....lose their QB and leading receiver (and I didn't check any other positions except for RB,who returns)

Only if you saw it on TV.

I'm assuming they're factoring our history of struggles as the reason for the small line.

I'd be pretty shocked and disappointed if we win by anything less than 3 touchdowns. If I had to guess, I'd say it'll be another UT Martin, La Monroe-type performance.

They might be a semi-competitive team, but if we've made real progress we have to beat teams like that, and beat them handily.

Welp with South Carolina on deck just 7 days later we might keep some firework formations & plays off the field in week 1. it might be just a solid workmanlike victory, keeping our spectacular stuff under wraps.

What's the line on UofL opener?
Cards +13.

IRT another point in this thread, Hudspeth has gone 9-4 every year (i.e., 4 years) at ULL. They have played 6 P5 schools all on the road and lost each game. The average score was 48-24 and their closest loss was to FL (27-20) in 2012.

Peace
