Vandy layin' the wood to Wake early,

Yeah wake is garbage. But Vanderbilt is pretty good. Only team that truly scares me in the sec.

Other thread incorrectly says LSU is legit. Vandy is the legit one. And Kevin from The Office is a pretty decent coach.

They look like one of the better Vandy teams I've seen under Stalin....

Good enough for a strong second round exit.

In an earlier thread today about Vandy, I mentioned they needed to improve their D (from last season) dramatically to be a legit contender... they look pretty good on D. Have some length and Guard... also good quickness - and lots of bulk and length in the front court.

They have only had 1 bad stretch against Wake and it can be attributed to foul trouble and substitutions... Stallings seems to be playing a lot of players (guessing because they are playing 3 games in 3 days).

Damian Jones should be in the NBA... don't know how these coaches talk these first round locks into coming back to school. That kid is ready.

Playing Kansas tomorrow will tell us more... but they look like a legit contender and a top 10 or better right now.

I hope Vandy bitch slaps KU. Of course then if we lose to KU we have to hear Loco Vandy Fan talk smack about it, cause clearly beating KU on a neutral court now is the same as in Lawrence in practically February.

Because some kids want to come back. I applaud it. Don't get me wrong, I get Cals "me first means team first" philosophy, but some kids (like a poythress) enjoy college and don't care about leaving it early. Some kids do place high value on education. I've seen high school kids work so hard on college credits we have to pull the book from them and sit down to look over offers. Literally high D1 offers in the coaches box daily for them, but they can't get their damn noses out of college algebra or whatever. It's amazing.

We shouldn't paint a broad brush and say every kid that has a first round status should leave for money(not saying you are).

You make good points... but I believe you have to take the opportunity and money when you can. It's not like once you go to the NBA you can never go back to college. Continuing education can happen while they are in the league and after. I've always said, if you want an education you can get it - and in today's age it's easier then ever.

Injuries aren't as big of a concern as in the past...seems like most athletes recover well from major injuries... but getting to that 2nd contract before anything bad happens is important IMO.

Physically he's ready. Skill wise he's ready.

Yea but the college experience only really happens once. You can return to take classes but you never return to real college life. It's also never easier to get that degree when you're getting paid for tutors and teammates in classes with you. Not saying you can't receive a fair amount of those things if you returned, but probably not to that extent.

I agree with you on most cases. I just believe that if a kid places a higher value on a college education we should applaud it. Just like an education in most aspects, money will always be there. If you're intellectual enough to want to get some good degrees, you'll be fine even without the NBA money( even though you'll still probably get it)

IMO.

I'm actually smiling as I type this because I wasn't factoring in the college life aspect. I enjoyed college so much I spent 6 years there....lol

There's valid arguments on both sides. I guess the answer is only known by Damian Jones. I just hope their coaching staff doesn't pull a Roy Williams and they meticulously go over his options subjectively.
