Vandy 63, Hawaii 10!!

I just checked recruiting back to 2019 for each program.

Vandy has finished in the top 50 the last 4 years: Hawaii has not broken the top 100 on Rivals back to 2019.

Vandy had 400+ yards rushing, 600+ total offense. They also returned not one but TWO defensive TDs where they recovered fumbles in mid-air and ran them in. Hawaii is in major building mold. '21 coach resigned last Dec under pressure accused of mistreating players. They had massive defection of players, even the HC's son! They have something like 50 new players so it'll be a while before they can put together a challenging roster. Vandy QB, Mike Wright who UK recruited early, looked really good. Fast, elusive runner with a good enough arm. RBs were quick, ran hard. They won't challenge top teams but should win 4-5 games which is progress for Vandy.

This is going to be hard to beat for a season highlight game, but up next: Elon.

Vandy sure hasn't returned to the early days when they were very dominant in the South. Just watched the 'Saturdays in the South' talking about how John Heisman had no interest in playing Vandy at this time who was the flag bearer for Southern football in the 1910s. What you learn about Heisman makes me question why he has a trophy bearing his name after watching this show?

But remember, their coach said its just a matter of time til Vandy makes the playoffs.

Then they get Wake at home, then Northen Illinios. They could start the year 4-0 and could earn a minor bowl birth, think about that.

You'd think it would be easy to recruit to Hawaii.
Visits are a problem. They have a limited number to give out, and everyone would love to visit even if not seriously considering the school.

As for Mainlanders, how are the folks back home going to come to games?

There is a lot of talent in the islands, though, something June Jones tapped into during his tenure.

Harder than hell to recruit in Hawaii.

High prices, can’t just “leave” quickly, annoying tourists. Sure. Paradise. Beautiful women/men (depending on your preference).

But I’d imagine that start getting old eventually unless you had family there or just decided to live there permanently.

Travel there for parents or relative would be a pain too.

Be real hard i would think. You cannot afford anything on a student budget let alone money to fly out and back for things like holidays and such.
I'd think if my kid went there that old dad might go too. I'll live on the beach.
