Vandy’s football stadium

I was there for the cup snake game. The stadium was half empty and more than half the people there were in blue.

Saddest thing is those most hurt are visiting fans

Still try and go week 4 Big Blue Nation!!! If tickets aren't available watch & raise hell on Broadway!!!

Vandy adds exactly nothing to the SEC. Can't imagine their games draw many eyeballs regardless of the opponent. More times than not, opposing fans outnumber home fans at VU home games. Really a bottom feeder for almost all of their history in football. Every so often, they've had a few good BB teams but it's rare. Have had a pretty good baseball program but, as far as revenue is concerned, baseball doesn't move the needle one iota. Do they even have an athletic director? For at least a few years, they didn't and still cashed huge SEC checks. Doesn't seem right but I don't think the SEC will force them out unless it decides to break away from the NCAA and form an elite league with B10, B12, Pac, ACC teams. I think Vandy would be on the outside looking in under such circumstances.

In all my years of watching SEC Football on TV, Vandy has never sold out their stadium with their own fans. it's been the visiting fans that have scooped up the tickets. Basketball seems about the same way.

To be honest....that is the next logical conclusion is to put Vandy out of SEC. Charter member or not....this is absurd on their part. To not be able to add in Clemson and FSU but keep Vandy to share equal revenue.

I think the next stage of conference alignment will be current teams that arne't worthy.
What's the criteria and who sets it? Wins and loses? Vandy beat UK and UF last year, do we kick them out too? Vandy beat TN 4 out of 6 years just a few years ago, do we boot TN too? Probation? Vandy's never been on probation to my knowledge while Auburn's the most penalized program in NCAA history and TN famously thumbs it nose at the NCAA. And, of course, Vandy's a charter member of the SEC. Maybe they aren't worthy but if I were SEC schools, I'd make damn sure I compete and beat them instead of hunting some bogus excuse to dump them. Besides, if somebody's first somebody has to be last.

Years ago Marshall was booted from the MAC, soon after the Herd got serious about their athletic programs and became outstanding in several sports. Looking back, getting kicked out was just the impetus they needed to get em motivated. now Vandy while an excellent academic institution, when we talk SEC we are talking athletics, get with it or join the Ivy league!

UK was in that same position years ago. I really never counted men’s basketball as a reason to keep us since it’s secondary and tertiary in importance at schools in the conference not named UK.

On the one hand I can understand giving demands to Vandy, "get serious and increase funding for your sports especially football, or else!!". But on the other hand, as UK faithful do we in particular need another SEC team to be serious about football?

It is not that big of a difference. The one end zone only had tents/VIP guests ... and the other end zone was students (who never came anyway).

I just looked at tickets for the UK game, and the cheapest is $75 + $9 service fee. Geez, that is ridiculous.

It is ridiculous. I'll just watch the game for free at my house 30 minutes east of Nashville.

Get in price on stub hub is 33.00

They could buy any of us out, but buying Vandy out would give us a blackeye, most prestigious academic school in the conference a charter member, if we are going to buy any team out what does Missouri bring?
Eyes. That's the whole point any more. And I'd take a black eye. Black eyes don't last.

Well, the BB team has always been in the spotlight and I would guess helped the SEC to some extent. Also, the times have changed drastically and there is an enormous amount of money involved nowadays. VU football is a leech on the conference. Rarely makes a bowl game and almost always a very minor, pre-Xmas bowl at that. Generate very little revenue from football on their own with a rinky dink stadium that is only more than half full because of visiting team's fans.

They're a charter member and a very good university - I get it. But, from a money and athletics standpoint, they contribute very little to the SEC all while taking out their share of the revenues. I mean, no AD for several years ought to tell you how much they care about athletics. So, why reward them for that stance?

I know it’s a different subject, but they should build a real basketball arena. I know a lot of people like Memorial Gym. I am not one of them.

Had the pleasure of attending games at Memorial sitting fairly low behind the basket. Super venue. The only place better to watch a basketball game was our Memorial Coliseum. Long live Memorial Gym.

Missou upgraded their stadium to look pretty sweet. Vandy needs to keep pace and for that money they just can't. It isn't just what you invest. You have to think what you get for your investment. UK's facilities are way better than some teams I've seen that invested more money.

Meh, looks like Vandy is trying to at least work on their facilities. A $300 million upgrade isn't chump change. What did UK spend on Kroger-Commonwealth Stadium?
UTeee is the last bumch of goofs that need to be pointing fingers. When was the last time Neyland was upgraded? Some of their bleachers are likely held together with chewing gum and wishful thinking.

Just bought 4 tickets on 30 yard line row20 for 55 bucks apiece. LOTS of great seats available cheap. Although it is easily the worst staduim in SEC there will be a BUNCH of UK fans there, and Nashville is a great place to stay

Stub Hub selling seats much cheaper than Vandy's official web site

If it wasn’t a founding member of SEC, Vandy would be in the OVC.
Sewanee rolled out and they was a founding member. Vanderbilt should go play in whatever D3 league The Great Sewanee is now in. I probably don't really need talk too much shit though since they just beat us last year. We do have a real stadium though with big fancy closed in endzones and the asses to go in those seats and everything else😂.

Nashville and surrounding region are booming in population and industry as well as becoming a big destination town for travel. Having that market is going to start paying off for the SEC.

All those people are going to look for a team to support, all those businesses are going to look for advertising/sponsorship opportunities.

Vandy is the sleeping giant. They have the alum wealth, they have the SEC brand/money, they have the city, they have entertainment industry/pop culture, big star power/brands right next door...

All they need is a coach who can draw up a passing play and put some points on the board. Wouldn't take much for talent to start picking Nashville over Starkville, Oxford, Lexington, College Station, hell even Knoxville.

Get some kids on stage with Taylor Swift or any number of artists whose fan base is largely female, specifically in that college aged range...NIL and social media potential with that...see ya...

Give 18–23-year-old college athletes who are already studs on campus the ability to be seen around town, on stage, at events...jesus christ...it's not fair...

"hey, I play football for Vandy, drive a nice car via my NIL deal, and have backstage passes to T-Swift and/or so and so..."

Come on now...game over...not just on the field but off...
