If you ask a UK fan who's the all time leading scorer in UK basketball history, 99% of the time you get Dan Issel. Wrong! It's Valerie Still.

Their son grew to be 6'9" and went to the Naval Academy to play basketball. Left the team after his first year but graduated from the academy. If I remember correctly, he was in a sports magazine as the best grade school player in the nation at one point.

Yes, Art Still was one of the best. I remember hearing him being interviewed one time, saying when Kentucky was recruiting him, he thought it was for basketball, at first. He got a kick out of that too.

Funny thing. They did not meet at UK. She graduated before he got to campus. Started dating as pros in Europe (I think I'm remembering that right)

Say what you want about Cal (I certainly have), but he has done a better job than any coach in UK history of bringing back past players and stakeholders of the program, and/or UK Athletics overall, and making a family type environment.
