UT starts no one over 6'5"

Have you seen our bigs? You don't need much size up front against the all-softy foursome of Skal, Willis, Poy and Lee.

Started a 6'9" guy today.

Except he only played 12 minutes and did nothing at all. Just a token starter who gets yanked early.

The OP is essentially correct. The lineup that kicked our ass tonight was ALL little guys. The biggest guy on the court for UT most of the game was 6'5", the rest were in the 6'1" to 6'4" range.

^ and they outrebounded us. Amazing.

Outrebounded and out-everythinged our bigs.

I honestly think it might be time for Cal to consider experimenting with one of these four guard type lineups like other teams have successfully done in recent years. The group of bigs on this team is just too damn weak to keep playing the same way we've conventionally done it.

That stat concerned me from the first time I heard it.

I agree. Play Poythress and spread the floor. Play a zone defense.

They outplayed us

On the rebounding it's hard to say. The boxscore only shows one more rebound, but some of those rebounds are toss ups as to who gets them. Then again the way things have been called lately even boxing out properly you risk fouling. FG wise we outscored UT 59-54. It came down to FT's. Even a couple of the TOs we had should have been fouls on them. The stat lines were pretty even. If we got beat by 10-15 then yes I would say we got outplayed. We didn't get outplayed. We got screwed royally AGAIN!

Probably a good time to try to play Humphries. If you cannot score from outside, post the big kid up, against some 6'5" player and see if they can stop him. If it doesn't work, after a few possessions, then take him out. But we were unsuccessful at everything else.

It's utterly amazing that we're shooting 47% from the floor on the year with mediocre 3 point shooting and terrible big men.

Yep, it's a weird team. Poor outside shooting, hardly any inside post scoring, but we do have pretty good mid-range scoring. Too bad it's not the 1980s pre-three point rule era, that was a better time for mid-range guys.
