Why in the world are they playing every game in Birmingham?
It was partly due to Covid as well. They are trying to negotiate for the teams to eventually be in host cities. Wonder how a USFL team would fare in a place like Louisville or Lexington.Probably to keep overhead costs down. They don’t have to rent 8 stadiums in 8 different cities and pay for travel for four teams each week. Outside of the TV deal, I can’t see the USFL generating a lot of outside revenue.

Louisville is the 29th most populous city in the US per the ever-reliable Wikipedia. Incredible that there isn't a legit pro team there at all.It was partly due to Covid as well. Having City population and having money are two totally different things. I live in the Metro Nashville area and the City of Nashville's population may be close to 700,000 now but for a lot of years it was well below 400,000. If you encompass the entire metro area you have about 1.3 Mill right now I believe. The income level here is a lot greater than the income level in Louisville. Memphis has over 1 million people and not great income overall but they do have FedEx corporate office and AutoZone corporate office there and those two companies are the only reason that Memphis has a professional basketball team. Louisville has UPS Air hub, a big Ford truck factory, and Papa John's. I just don't think the income in Louisville warrants any kind of pro sport. I could be completely wrong.Louisville is the 29th most populous city in the US per the ever-reliable Wikipedia. Incredible that there isn't a legit pro team there at all.
Louisville also has Yum Brands. It’s a much bigger deal than many realize. I’m guessing much bigger than AutoZone. Community-wise, Louisville >>>> Memphis, and it’s not even close. The biggest difference between these two cities is, Memphis is now viewed as an NBA city, while Louisville will always be considered a college sports town. Lexington and Louisville are always at the top of the list when it comes to college basketball viewership. Where do they rank in NBA TV ratings?Having City population and having money are two totally different things. I just looked it up AutoZone is worth about $7 billion more than Yum brands. AutoZone came in at 43 billion dollars which is a lot of freaking money. So they are basically the same size in the grand scheme of things. However Memphis has FedEx and that's the big stupid elephant in the room.Louisville also has Yum Brands. I'm not out, I'm just in baseball mode now. I personally would rather it be Tuesday or Wednesday night during football season when I'm in football mode.
If Cincinnati or Louisville had a team, and they actually played in Cincinnati or Louisville, I'd be much more inclined to watch/go.
I can't stand the NBA in its current form, but the same holds true for that. I enjoy the NHL and support the Sharks because of the Thoroughblades, but I don't really keep up with them. I'd be much more apt to support a team in Cincinnati or Louisville.
Hopefully the USFL sticks and gives folks another outlet/option.
I'll never give up!The good news is with you being a reds fan you can start prepping for football season well in advance, especially this season.
