“I’ve been told he would end up in 2015 for a long time. It just didn’t become newsworthy until Kentucky started recruiting him"

This is why we ARE college basketball.

If this does happen and Cal has a shot at him this weekend in Lexington....the dominoes might be starting to fall into place.

Thanks for the link. He might be the best option we have left and it's sounding more positive for us getting him this year. I really hope he reclassifies and picks us.

I mean he looks like a Duke player.

The same way Luke Kennard and JJ Reddick look like Duke players.

The way Shane Battier looks like a Duke player.

Ask Jalen Rose what a Duke player looks like.

I read that he is in the older age range for his class so a reclassification for 2015 wouldn't put him that far behind other players in that class. He certainly looked ready to play college ball in the Hoop Summit game.

I'm all for bringing in a guy that "looks" like a Duke player then if that is what you mean. Most of those guys are fundamentally sound, can shoot the 3, drive it, hit FTs at a high rate, etc. No issue there, bring him on in.

Unlike Neman, I would love to add Murray. But I have to think with us having both Ulis and Briscoe, 2 good PGs, that can't help us any in recruiting Murray.

Geez if you havent seen a what dook player "looks like" then you havent paid enough attention. For one, most of them you want to punch in face just based on looks alone...

Certainly hope this news is a shot in the arm for UK recruiting with this current class. I could also get very excited landing him at UK and then adding a big man (Diallo?). That would be a great class and Murray would more than make up for losing out on Newman to MSU. Sure hope it happens and happens soon, I'm getting impatient on waiting, how about the rest of you?

Sure, Duke would take Murray, but with Thornton committing, along with Allen, Jones and Kennard, I don't see him spending his one year at Duke. Could be wrong, but I just don't see it.

That's what I'm thinking. They have a massively crowded perimeter whereas he would step straight into a starting role for us.

While we wait here is a mixtape.......

Thanks for that link. I know you can't always depend 100% on mix tapes but, from what you see there, he really shows he can handle the ball very well and is pretty dang athletic. Shoots the ball well and has a very quick set up and release and love the way he drives to be basket too. Thing that really impresses is how mature he looks physically. I think I read that he is already 18 (not sure when he turns 19) so he is older than some for his class but he looks stronger and bigger than others guarding him. Love to have this kid at UK next year, wow!!!!!

Newman is a great player, but wanted to play a score first PG. Which is why Cal never gave up recruiting him once we signed Brisco. He thought Newman could easily play beside Ulis or Brisco and not have to give up that scoring mentality. I just think once we signed Brisco (to compliment Tyler Ulis), the odds of us ending up with Newman significantly decreased.

Newman is a great player and will do good at Miss State. I wish him nothing but the best of luck.

Having said that, Murray is Top-10 player who just so HAPPENS to play a position with TONS of playing time available at UK next year. If we secure him, how a player of this caliber fell into our laps at the last second is beyond amazing. Having Murray on this team instantly takes UK from preseason Top-10, to Top-5.

He's a bit more athletic than I thought based on that mix tape. I hope Cal can land him for 2015-2016--especially since all signs are pointing to Newman not coming to UK now. Since he and Thon Maker played on the same team, I wonder if that would have any influence on Maker coming to UK as well?

If Murray picks UK and we miss on the two SF's we're recruiting, I expect that UK will go with 3 guards, 2 bigs most of the time.

Briscoe and Murray are both combo guards that can play on the wing. Same with Mulder and Matthews. Briscoe and Mulder are both good rebounding guards per their stats, and Murray probably could be as well, so I don't think rebounding will necessarily be a problem with a smaller line-up the way that some do. I really like the thought of possibility of having a very fundamentally skilled and deep backcourt next season.

If we get Diallo to go with Skal down low it wont matter if we go three guards on the defensive end as those two should be able to keep things in check in the painted area.

According to the article, Oregon has been on him for awhile. Let's compare the two schools.

Kentucky: 8 National Championships, Hall of Fame coach that will get you ready for the NBA very quickly, on national TV every game, 23,000+ fans at every home game, great chance to make the Final Four every year.

Oregon: Lots of trees.

Only thing about Oregon is that we've taken two guys from up there under Cal. Wiltjer and Jones. Hopefully their coach isn't trying to get revenge with a little negative recruiting.
