USA v Australia

LOL, "France wins by 1 with a second half comeback" They lead pretty much the entire game. The whole second half they held a 7-10 point lead. Never was behind, did the poster even watch the game ?

Donic is a whiny little bitch. He whines even when not fouled, and he hacked the shit out of a player on France, and went to the official and whined for 30 seconds. It was clear he fouled the guy, not even a question. Super talented player and a enjoy to watch, but his flopping and whining is next level. I know guys do it in the NBA and it is the "in" thing, but he takes it to another level.

A guy not getting any credit or is under the radar, Jru Holiday is balling his ass off. He is just putting clamps on his man and shutting him down, but what is really not getting noticed his playmaking ability. he is truly playing at a high level at both ends of the floor.

The best thing that could have happened to Team USA is losing the game to the Aussies in Vegas, then losing the first game in Tokyo to France. it lined up perfect, we drew those two for the Semis and Finals. Reason I say that is it eliminated the chance they MIGHT come out and sleep walk or think they could just show up and win. No way they would take either team lightly, not to mention it will keep them focused and the revenge factor is a extra bonus. We have already played both and kind of knew what their game plan was / is going to be. I low key didn't want to get Slovenia in the Gold Medal game. We have not played them so it would have been a figuring out and adjusting on the fly. Not to mention Donic could have went HAM and dropped a 50 spot triple double. Fournier will be tough to contain, just slow him down and make him pass the ball. But they are not a one man team. Rudy Gobert is a tough assignment inside and he will protect the rim, so team USA may need to use the little pull up J from 5-10 feet and not try to attack all the way to the rim. But the guy who is balling out is De Colo. he is scoring, assisting, whatever it takes to win. Averaging 14 / 4 / 6. Luwawu- Cabrrot is no slouch, they have NBA vet Batum, so you can't just key on 1 guy or 2 guys.

Should be a great game, can't afford to get down DD's against the veteran French team. We actually had the opening game won, up 8 with 3 minutes and change left. Total collapse, but the learned something from it.

I
And drafted behind Greg Oden IIRC....

Oden would’ve been awesome if he’d stayed healthy. That dude was once the real deal. Perhaps the single most dominant defensive high school center ever.

One of the sport’s all time “what could’ve beens.”

We'd be screwed without Holiday. He's the most important guy next to Durant.

I wonder if Jalen Duren is watching wondering where all the former Memphis Tigers are on the Olympic roster?

He may be hoping he gets a chance to play for the US down the road. His college coach played in the Olympics, so its not like it cant be done by going to Memphis.

My team plays in Lexington
FWIW both the UK basketball and football team did things backing BLM. If you’re going to root against every team that did something supporting BLM, you’re going to have to quit sports altogether.

FTR I don’t agree with different BLM views, but it’s not going to cause me to hate people that do. Division doesn’t solve things.

I'm not a loser either, we won the gold, your team is playing for the penny. Sucks for you Outback Steakhouse. 🤡
Trust me.....you are terrible at this.... I mean really terrible....like a 5th grader is better at this than you.

Terrible like your bronze medal Outback Steakhouse team? Imagine being a fake patriot and getting busted cheering against your own country.

Maybe hate wasn’t the best word. I’m just saying if you’re not going to support teams with players that did something supporting BLM, you’re going to have to give up UK athletics, certain Olympic athletes, etc.

I know there are others with your mindset. However, I’m not going to allow politics to give up UK athletics, Olympics, NFL, NBA, etc. If you were consistent you would quit watching Kentucky basketball. They did a BLM video last year.

If I did what you’re doing about movies, I would never see a movie again with so many liberals in media. I have learned to disagree and not let it ruin something I like, such as watching America win gold in my favorite sport with 3 UK players on the team.

Your link is referencing the Olympics as a whole, not basketball. So do you think our swimmers, gymnasts and tracksters also hate America?

And the lower ratings are easily explained by the 12 hour time difference and these being the weird crowdless Covid games. It’s hardly surprising that fewer people are tuning in to events that start at 1 AM in front of empty seats.

2020 NBA finals was a ratings trainwreck. Keep thinking people want politics intheir sports and watch sports die out completely.

So? The NBA is doing better financially than it has in the history of the sport, you really think they care about losing folks that are triggered by Lebron and wearing BLM shirts? Ratings barely mean anything these days, especially when you factor in that the NBA gets a major piece of the pie in terms of subscription based services that people pay online to watch NBA games.

Your last sentence is ironic considering the topic of discussion.

Believe what you will. People tune into sports because they like the sport. They like to watch it be played. They don't tune in to be lectured and have politics forced on them.

The NBA backed off the political stuff because people were turned off by it. NFL the same. MLB the same. It's reality.
