so, with the corruption news going on, is UNC off the hook? If I were the NCAA, I’d push them to the front of the line in order to save face.
oh I am sure ol roy is having double coke and moonpies after this news
this seriously made me LOL.
I would like to think this is the case but with all that has gone on involving UNC and the NCAA moving at a snails pace to address it I have serious doubtsI believe this doesn't help UNCheats case. The NCAA will want show they still have some teeth.
Why were their pants down? Do they not own a belt? NCAA is just as much to blame as the AAU people. The NCAA got something in their eyes. It ain't sand. ($$$)The NCAA will basically be seen as an inept bunch of pencil necks who got caught with their pants down as this scandal was unfolding.

It is the exact opposite of the OP.
This explosion will fade in intensity, but serve as a backdrop for all NCAA activities in the foreseeable future. The NCAA will basically be seen as an inept bunch of pencil necks who got caught with their pants down as this scandal was unfolding.
All eyes will be on them to see if they can effectively and sternly discipline the sport. The press attention to the UNC thing will be INCREASED by this scandal -- not only were schools paying for players, but UNC was letting them play while staying eligible with fake grades.
The NCAA HAS to hammer UNC now.
I completely agree, but, based on the foot dragging, the NCAA feels otherwise.UNC providing a fake education is more harmful than giving a player money
It's separate parts within the NCAA in the first place, so no one will be distracted. But think in terms of human psychology. You've been embarrassed on your job by letting something slide that turned into a fiasco. The next time you have a chance to make a decision do you, 1.) Err on the side of appearing uninterested and distracted and lenient or 2.) Err on the side of showing you can be tough, decisive and ruthless. There are going to be so many teams on probation they might get their own tournament bracket. It would surprise me that the UNC thing gets swept under the rug now. The NCAA is going to be distracted.
If you are the culprit, your done. If I contributed, I am done and should say so.You've been embarrassed on your job by letting something slide that turned into a fiasco.
If I could like this post ten times I would !!! You would think if the NCAA wants to be even remotely considered as relevant they will clean this mess up now for sure ! !!It's separate parts within the NCAA in the first place, so no one will be distracted. Does the NCAA want this Associated Press lead to all news agencies: "The NCAA, still reeling from a sport-wide scandal over paid basketball recruits, today gave the University of North Carolina a slap on the wrist in a decades-long scandal that involved giving athletes fake grades for bogus classes..."
Or would this be better: "The NCAA, still reeling from a sport-wide scandal over paid basketball recruits, today sent a message that cheating will no longer be tolerated by vacating a basketball title from the University of North Carolina and placing the school's entire program on three-years suspension from post season play..."

This! I actually think this hurts them more. The COI are going to want to show now more than ever that they're effective at governing D1 athletics.I believe this doesn't help UNCheats case. The NCAA will want show they still have some teeth.

No way. May be more reason to show they are not weak and hit UNC hard.so, with the corruption news going on, is UNC off the hook? If I were the NCAA, I’d push them to the front of the line in order to save face.
Trying to point out all the UF receivers who aren't covered?I think UNCheat will just get to use this as more misdirection. LOOK OVER THERE!!!
