I'm shocked at how few media people seem to grasp the magnitude of what Murray did at the Pan-Am games. Blowing up in HS All-Star games is one thing, doing it in international competition is something else entirely.

I think that they're going to end up looking foolish.

I believe Murray, Skal, and Simmons in 1 order or another will be the 3 best players in the SEC this year. Playing with Ulis will help Murray and Skal grow up fast and be more productive.

I can't agree more. I know we are putting crazy expectations on this kid, but I think he has a good chance to be SEC Player of the Year. The game comes so easy to him that I don't even see much risk for his game to have to adapt or improve for the college competition. I think he will have instant impact and be our leading scorer.

They just refused to put 3 on the first team.
Why Murray is not on the 2nd team is a total joke.
Haters gonna hate.
They gonna piss their collective hater britches when we win it all.

Your could see the talent oozing from his game in the practice. He is deceptively quick and his handles are true. You give this kid an inch and he's gonna shoot your eyes out. When you pressure him he's gonna go right by you and find the open man or do one of his patented one handed lay up.

Kid is a real threat on the court you can't shut him down one way defensively. You have to come at him in a creative zone and isolate him from getting the ball. Of course all that does is just leave the other guys open on the court. :) need to run some screens for him with Humphries. Let that big Aussie knock the hell out of some opponents like Harrellson did. As much as we were over played last year we did not utilize screens much at all compared to what we were given. We did in '12 though with Davis on the receiving end of the oops. WCS could of had 7-8 dunks a game doing what Davis did.

I would be estactic if Poy was 2nd team. Not a lot of guys come back 100% right away from an injury like that.

Skal is the best prospect on the team but Murray is probably the best all around player. Most likely Murray will lead the team in scoring as well as others have pointed out.

Definitely an oversight but I'm sure he will be more proud when he makes the postseason team anyways.

It's going to be odd how Murray is one of the best players in the country while not being good enough to be first team all Sec. If Alex makes the second team, we will have a great year. To be considered for the second team, he's gonna have to play some elite D on the court. If Alex is healthy, he's one of those freak defenders that can guard guys all over the floor and those type of defenders are valuable.

Dumb not to have Murray on the list, but he will be on there at the end of the season.

It is kind of shocking Murray wasn't selected for these teams and Alex is. Not to talk bad about Alex, but Murray has shown he can be the man against the best players in the country. With Alex, we saw a lil of that during the Duke game, but not since. I don't wanna talk bad about Alex. I still think he has time to become the player everyone knows he is capable of being. With ESPN, at least they have the excuse of not ranking foreign players.

Alex may be the most over rated player in UK history. He has been here for 3 seasons and has come nowhere close to looking like an All Conference player. Even last season as a junior he was just barely noticeable on the court or the 8 games he played before the injury. He has definitely shown a flash or two a game, but has been very inconsistent the rest of the games.
He looked very good against the competition for the first 3 games in the Bahamas, but so did Willis. Hopefully this season he breaks out and becomes a star, but I predict he is just a role player again. I hope he proves me wrong!

Murray is legit!! Time will tell....what little i saw of him scrimmage at pro combine practice he didnt seem as aggressive as summer hut these things take time. He is definitely firat team talent and possibly could be best player in league before year is over.

They'll remember Murray when he leads the team in scoring, lights fools up, and goes top 10 in the draft, so meh, whatever press!

Murray seems like the type who will make the league pay for not putting him on a team. Thanks NATIONAL MEDIA!

Best five in the league based on traditional positions:

PG Ulis
SG Murray
SF House (A&M)
PF Simmons (LSU)
C Labissiere

Just my opinion.

Idk I mean he looks a lot better at the 4 then the 3 and he will be at the 4 this season. Also he played behind Randle his sophomore year however he was key in the 2014 tournament run. Last year he played well in the Bahamas tour but when forced to the 3 because of Karl he wasn't as good. I think this will be his year.

I might get heat for this...

but i think Murray is the better version of B. Knight. :-D

I wouldn't disagree that he's got BK's stroke but he also possesses John Wall type moves
and can get to the hole like nobodies business.

He's going to effect his share of broken ankles this year - dribble drive is going to be fun to watch. [smoke]

Murray is going to be a 15-18 PPG scorer on a top 5 team all year. Skal will be right behind him with 12-15 PPG to go along with 9-10 RPG and 2-3 BPG. Both will be first team all-SEC IMO. Ulis, Poy, Briscoe and Lee will have major roles to play but Murray and Skal will have the eye-popping plays and numbers to get a first team all-SEC and all-American consideration.

I think it goes like this
- Skal SEC- 1st team, 1st team frosh, 1st team all defense/National- 1st team, 1st team frosh, 2nd team all defense
- Murray SEC- 1st team, 1st team frosh/National- 2nd team, 2nd team frosh
- Ulis SEC- 2nd team, 1st team all defense/National- honorable mention, honorable mention all defense
- Poythress SEC- 2nd team, honorable mention all defense
- Briscoe SEC- honorable mention, 2nd team frosh
- Lee SEC- honorable mention

No Murray? yeah, that's gay as hell man. Murray not being on there is a joke. And honestly he should be 1st team, but I don't know if they'd put 3 UK players on the 1st team. Murray will be a top 10 player in the country.

Normally I'd complain, but I think you could argue Alex won't make it as much as Murray should make it. We will see...
I would agree.

A totally healthy Alex could be an 8, 6 and 2 blocks kind of player on this roster. He's just not going to be asked to score a ton. Murray might be our leading scorer and 2nd in assists.

Poy could be DPOY, though.

Murray being a Canadian player probably
was a factor in him not being picked. USA players are generally viewed as better players. Obviously in his case that's a mistake but as someone else said maybe it gives him even more incentive. I could see Murray being the leading scorer but I wouldn't be shocked if it turned out to be Skal. He can score a lot of different ways.
I might get ridiculed for this but I think as a freshman he is further along offensively than AD.

I am thrilled to see UK players be recognized for their potential. However, to leave Murray off that list shows the fact that whomever the voters are did not make a true study of the talent in the SEC. Murray is without doubt one of the top five players in the conference and he could very easily be the very best of the bunch.
