UL moved up and down the court against WF, unlike the hack/hand to hand combat against us. I understand why they did it, it was the only chance they had. My question is, will they do that against let's say, Duke, UNC, Virginia?

I don't think anyone wants to admit it, but when Jones and Rozier are hitting shots UL is pretty damn good. I think tempo is what they want…….IF…..those two are hitting shots.

They missed a lot of shots against us. Much of it was due to our defense, but they missed ALOT of wide open looks as well. They are a good team.

Correct. UL is a 3 man team and when Rizier is hitting they are tough. But they nobody underneath beyond Harrell.

But teams like Duke and Virginia will not give up easy shots.

Louisville could play the grab-fest rugby style because they were in the Big East. Or maybe some would say they had to play that way in the BE. It's a chicken-egg thing. Anyway, the BE was the worst, the biggest culprit in the devolution of college hoops over the last 20 years and the reason for all the cries of "point of emphasis" re the rules and fouling. The ACC was never like that, very much a free flowing offensive league. Even with UofL, Pitt, ND and Syracuse coming into the league, I can't imagine that will be enough to transform the ACC into the BE. Especially given the clout of Duke and UNC. Will be interesting to watch....

in contrast, when wake started to push their offensive tempo and go to the basket, they cut the lead rather quickly. they had some pretty impressive go-long out of bounds passes, and for a while were making ul pay for their pressure defense. i think ul's depth was the difference in this one. that and the quick start. wake couldn't get over the hump, but they looked pretty good when they decided to go full speed.

Louisville got the win on the road in conference play, which is all that truly matters, but that defense was atrocious. CRAP and the Cardinals allowed Wake to shoot 53% from the field. You do that against VA, Duke or UNC, your ass is heading home with an L.

I just see foul and foul moving down the floor. Playing tough, sticky defense is one thing, but louisville really does foul A TON. if any louisville fan has the balls to do it. They could re watch every single game and pause it down the court and there is literally a foul, in nearly every possession, and down the floor. They are very lucky to win a title with that defensive philosophy, and with the new rules they probably won't again.

When they play Duke look out lol. No way coach k is gonna sit back and watch the hack a slap defense. Watch louisville get into foul trouble QUICK at Cameron.

UL couldnt do their normal B.S. on an opponents court. Thats the best way to get half your team in foul trouble real quick. The way UL played tonight reminded me more of how our teams played in the 90's ... going after steals but none of that over the top slap and grab that he's been doing at UL lately.

Didn't watch the game but were they ever behind ? They put the hack attack on more when they get behind.

You are right they have a good team when they are hitting on all cylinders, Harrell like him or not is a battler. The Duke game will be interesting, reminds me of the movie "Animal House" where the rough fraternity will be competing with the squeaky clean fraternity and Dean Wittiers(Coach Ks wife) had better be on her guard.

But a lot of those "open" shots against us were rushed or a man closing in on them. They had to fire shots off quickly before our guys closed in.

If Ul had played up tempo with us they would have got beat by 25 instead of 8(like 80% of the rest of college basketball)I think they will try to speed up Duke with the press.Virginia doesn't play that much up tempo to begin with,it will be hard for UL to try to force it with them.I think they play UNC the same way they did us.

I think UL will lose to all 3 of those teams.

I know that most are now picking UVA to win the ACC, but I think UL will beat UVA and lose to Duke.

Funny how folks see different things. Yes they looked good last night but the whole time I was thinking it is fools gold. No way they do a lot of damage in March as long as CJ is hogging the ball. It seemed like down the stretch it was him going one on one for about 10 straight possessions. He hit some really tough shots falling away. But it does not seem like a recipe for prolonged success. He will go cold. Then what, while the rest of the team is standing around watching. It is a goat / hero strategy.

I am glad some people explained why Wake Forest put up 76 on UL while we only put up 58 because I was like "WTF" when I saw that final score in thinking, Wake Forest can score on this team but we can't?

I think UL splits with Virginia at best. They have a better shot of beating Duke at the Yummy Center than Virginia on the road.

I also think they drop one somehere else along the road.

I would make the slight edit to say that they want tempo when they're the more talented team. They can't know going in whether they'll make shots but Pitino will certainly want an up tempo game when they're the better team and a slow, ugly game when they're not.

I expect you'll see a slow, ugly game against Duke. I think the tempo against UVa will be slow because UVa will dictate that. I think it'll be uptempo against UNC for the same reason. They'll run against the weaker ACC teams for sure.
