Noticed UL playing on ESPNU tonight so I've watched some of their first half since I haven't seen them on tv much this season. Of course they are playing another high school team but they are undeniably shooting the ball VERY well from outside.

I think that will be something to keep an eye on Saturday when they come to Rupp. I looked up their stats and they are shooting the 3 ball well all season, EXCEPT in their road games (only had 2). I'm curious to see if that shooting ability travels, or if it is a byproduct of playing all of their games in the same gym against weak opponents.

UL 3-Pointers at Home
71-169 (42%)

UL 3-Pointers on Road
9-34 (26.5%)

If they they hit 8 or 9 threes against us at a 40% clip, I don't see the Cats being able to overcome that. However, all teams shoot better at home so I don't expect that to continue now that they have to start playing some D1 teams away from the chicken bucket.

UL has some nice stats but they were racked up against cream puffs. One game against a high majored ended up a loss. I think their second game against a high major, UK, is a loss.

Interesting stats. Yes, I think if we run them off of the 3 pt line or make them shoot very contested shots, and make them beat us inside, I like our chances. I've been watching this game closely, and almost every 3 pt shot is a uncontested flat footed shot.
I'm also wondering if Rick will dare to defend us by packing it in, in the paint against us. That gives us fits. But rick always likes to pressure on the perimeter, which opens it up for us, inside.

I wonder what uks home vs away 3pt percentages are.

Just looked it up.

UK 3-Pointers at Home
28-115 (24%)

UK 3-Pointers on Road
26-67 (39%)

We are the exact opposite, and shooting an abysmal percentage at Rupp.

As for UL defending us, I can almost guarantee they will give up the open three before giving up the paint considering our struggles from deep. If we could come out and Ulis or Murray knock down a few early, it would open things up significantly on offense.

I hate Rupp's rims . Always have . But we never lose at home .

It's nice to be able to be in rhythm...set your feet and not have to worry about a hand in your face....they are not going to get the looks they get playing these terrible teams they are playing now. Also, they are going to have to play defense on the other end....they are not having to play "in your shorts" defense right now...they can take a couple plays off defensively right now....

UL fans are taking in the "fools gold" with these wins against these terrible teams....and this will be a tough test @ Rupp...where we just don't lose!!

They've done this before. Lit it up the game before us and blew their wad and then shot like crap against us.

There must be something about shooting at Rupp. Maybe the rims? Not sure, but no one seems to shoot great there.

I'm sure they will try to pack it in the paint and hack attack the whole length of the floor, hope our guys are ready to play and stay focused the whole game

Blah blah, I read a couple of posts. Who know's? Let's talk about it after we kick their ass.

If they hadn't got those stats against cupcakes, I would be really be concerned. They played exactly one game out of Jefferson county and the only reason for that one was the conference scheduled that one for them.

This will be an interesting game. I am interested to see if UL and especially if Lee and Lewis are as good as they have looked. It will also be interesting to see how we play following a poor performance against OSU. It is possible that UL will be the best team we will play in the season before we go to Kansas. Poythress, Lee and Skal have to play well for us to win.

I think we win, but will not be shocked if UL beats us. Louisville is better than they were last year, the 2 graduate students are very good.

Their stats have been against cupcakes, but we certainly have not looked like world beaters against good competition. We beat one very good team in Duke, beat one decent team in ASU and looked pretty bad in losses against two fairly good teams

The way I see this game is our 3 guards against their 3 guards. If either team gets anything out of their bigs they will be the winner.

The one good team they played, MSU, the shooting was:

FGM-A 43.3%, 3PM-A 23.5% (4-17)

I don't think there is any way they shoot well in Rupp against our athletic guards. IMO we match up well, we're better in the back court, with their guards and their front court really doesn't inspire me either with 13 points while being out rebounded by 10 against MSU.
