And seemingly let off the gas. What happened? If we finish strong and end up winning by 4 TDs I think the perception of this team is much different today.

We went pret
What happened?
1. We went pretty deep on the bench the last ten minutes, at least on defense.

Which is more important, increasing perception, or getting live game reps for some young folks?

I’ll admit the question is arguable, but I liked the idea of playing a lot of youngsters in the 4th. It lessons the risk of injury to your starters, and it probably lessons the risk of a player or two hitting the portal prematurely (prior to the staff asking him to hit the portal).

2. I hate to bitch about the referees in a blowout. but one drive was gift-wrapped for a Vandy touchdown. Replay clearly showed the ball loose from
the receiver’s grasp as he went out-of-bounds on a 40 yard bomb. Then they called a phantom PI in the end zone, putting the ball on the two yard line

Great post Hack and getting the youngsters reps takes precedence over perception!

Did we not have the ability to call a time-out and ask for a review on that bobbled catch? Poor "coaching" in my opinion....

Oregon's coach going in at 1/2 time up 35 - 0 said "we're not through"... I liked that attitude, and showed that perceptions in these polls play a huge roll...

It's also a mind-set that attention to detail is important throughout the entire game ....

Eh…Ky was an offensive mess 2nd and 3rd qtr…that is the negative taste in most mouths

As Hack pointed out…refs basically gifted some bs PI calls to give them 7 pts and rhe last qtr scores were backups galore. Ky D throttled Vsndy IMO

My understanding is we had the ability to call a timeout to give the conference office longer to look at it.

Frankly, on the first replay, I was convinced it was complete based on the focus of the receiver having one foot in bounds. When the SEC network showed the reverse angle, I and the announcers were shocked to see the ball being juggled. And Vandy ran a very fast play to preserve the missed call.

I have a hard time jumping to “poor coaching” conclusions condemning a staff that has exceeded Frank Beamer’s well-respected first 11 years at Virginia Tech.

We're not through then proceeded to play to a 7-6 half time score. Coach speak

That didn't age well at all, now did it? You might try a little "attention to detail" by waiting for the game to be over before making goofy comments.

I dunno'.... I mean the score was 42 - 0 until the last 2+ minutes, so....maybe he got exactly what he wanted from his Offense & Defense up to that point.... for public perception... ?? Seems like a pretty good ass whipping' of a ranked team getting all kinds of publicity...

The larger issue is that some teams seem to continue to be more aggressive throughout the game for whatever reason(s)...

hype their Heisman contender
hype their poll standings
hype their explosive, fun offense (for recruits)

Its not in Stoops' DNA... neither is running an efficient, mistake-free, attention-to-detail program...

It is what it is.... I've been following UK since the 70's... and am happy with the current state; however, I'm not convinced it's going to get much better....

That's okay... I'll continue to go to games when I can, etc.

Go CATS!
