UK/UL game scheduled

Weird. Louisville has been bad for so long this game has lost its luster to anyone outside of the state of KY. Their preseason hype wasn’t even enough to get us a weekend game lol.

Yeah not a fan of this.

Tuesday night game in early November? Just doesn't make sense.

Would have made more sense for the IU game to happen November 11th and the UL game to happen on that Saturday in December.

And JQ might not be fully back by then either.

Even more glad now for the Purdue exhibition game. That will help get us ready- UL and Michigan State in the first 10 days of the season.

Man this is usually played in December…. I’d be alright if we never played them again and if we would’ve never started the stupid IU series back up! There are better teams out there to play!
Agree to disagree. I want UofL and IU on the schedule every year. It's fun. I don't care if there's "better" teams out there. A game against UofL or IU has that 'it' factor that a game against a Houston or a 'whoever is good right now' ever will. Give me the rivalries every year. We've already lost too much of college basketball as it is. Maintain something that made it fun and special.

As for the OP, a Tuesday night, Veteran's Day game?? Would like to know the reasons behind this, cause it's putting a great rivalry in a shadow, IMO. I don't like it, at all. This game deserves better!

Not sure why people think this is "stupid" - I mean we have an exhibition against Purdue - not Sisters of the Poor of West Virginia. Then we open with UL and Michigan State shortly after. Then Gonzaga and STJ. Granted there will be cupcakes thrown in there, but that's quite the non-conference already - all of those teams were NCAAT teams last year.

About the only "stupid" is that it's on a Tuesday night. Should be a Saturday now and forever.

Meh, UofL shouldn't be allowed to play UK, they are a cesspool of a program.
But also, the champions classic is played on a Tuesday night too and the ratings are usually through the roof for that event, so I don't see a problem with this tbh.

100% I grew up going to the Kentucky Indiana games in freedom Hall and the RCA dome and I loved how the crowds were split 50/50. I know it's not Indiana's old with bob Knight but still I think we should play them. I also realize what happened in 2011 when we played there but that was 13 years ago so let's make it neutral site games so that kind of BS doesn't happen again.

Don't think it will be our first game, we usually have a tune-up or two before that, but they could be our first tough game. We played Wright St. and Bucknell before we played Duke on Nov. 12 last season.

Not sure a Tuesday night in November was the answer but the game had gotten totally lost nationally end of December on a Saturday with bowl games/NFL/holidays.

At least no competition that night from CFB or NFL.

It may have something to do with the Indiana game. My guess is they want to build that rivalry back up and didn’t want to have 2 rivalry games so close together. That game is tentatively scheduled for Dec 13th at Rupp.

It got lost nationally cause it's a rivalry in name only. It's been one-sided as we beat them WAY more than they beat us.

Some of y’all probably b**ch when you wake up in the morning and notice that the Sun is shining!

It’s a CBB game for G sakes! Pipe down🤣
Nah. I like my college basketball rivalries to be during when the season is rolling. Gives both teams a chance to be decently prepped. Makes for a better game. This is just a stupid decision.

1. It’s a rivalry game dating back over 100 years. Cesspool or not it’s good for the Commonwealth.
2. The champions classic is usually the first big CNB event for the year with three of the most historic teams in CBB. It’s no comparison in ratings.

I agree.

And since Indiana is back on the menu .....

I'll get back to making beating the living catcrap out of the Hoosiers my top priority, just like old times. Even though they need us SO MUCH MORE than we ever needed those losers. And starting off the season with little brother? Well, it is an odd time and date, but all the better to kick things into high gear and serve notice on the rest of the college basketball world for next year.

Go Big Blue !

UL thinks their chances are better playing UK early before they have a chance to build chemistry
