UK target Marques Bolden says his recruitment has become a ‘hassle.’

Signaling that it's all about to come to an end. Wish MJ would do a periscope and drop us some bread crumbs about who the recruit is that's supposed to commit shortly after Madness.

I bet he doesn't really know.

It's Fox - no doubt about it. That doesn't mean we might not have a 2nd commit after BBM.

How awesome would it be to get SKJ, Gabriel, Fox, and Bolden wrapped up early?
It'd be nice to wrap Fox up that early.

God, that sounds relieving. A top 5, two top 15's and a top 25 before even going into spring. We won't have to worry about it all winter long. That way Monk, Alkins, and whoever else can take their time and not make us worry that our class isn't going to pan out. If we could add Monk, the class would be just about as good as we could realistically hope.

So we land Fox, Monk, Gabriel, SKJ and lets say Bolden. Whats awesome is suddenly you have Matthews, Mulder, Hawkins , Wynyard and Humphries busting tail all off season long having to improve just to compete for playing time.

I'd think a class of SKJ, Fox, Bolden, Gabriel and either of Monk or Simmons would be #1.

Debate able if we get Simmons instead of Monk I suppose but I'm not sure it's close with Monk.

We'd have to see how Duke's class rounds out. I'm assuming they get Giles and I doubt they leave their class as is if they do.

I don't care if we get the top class or not.

I will be tickled with Fox, Monk, Gabriel, Killeya-Jones, and Bolden.

Add that to Hawkins, Floreal, Mulder, Matthews, Willis, Wynyard, and Humphries and we have another contender.

I believe we will have a Fox committment after Madness sometime. That would gives us next year so far Fox, Killeya-Jones, Gabriel, and Wynyard. Then if we could get Bolden early that would mean that next spring we would be looking at trying to get Monk in the spring. I believe there will be 3 guards out there in Monk, Alkins, and Simmons and one of these guards would be at Kentucky. I know everyone is hoping to get a Monk committment next spring and that would be huge with Fox, Monk, Killeya-Jones, Gabriel, Bolden, and Wynyard. If something happens and Monk goes to Arkansas I still believe we will get Simmons or Alkins instead of Monk.

thanks for the link
in that link they also have an interview with Fox, you guys need to watch it
after watching it, i think he is UK bound

I bet he has the best contacts of anyone on this board..............Id say he does know.

I agree with you that Jones knows more than us, and I think he hears about when kids are about to commit, but I'm not always sold that he hears who a specific player is.

If it comes down to Simmons or Alkins, I'd prefer Rawle; however, I'm certainly not going to complain with a backcourt that includes Fox, Matthews, Simmons, Mulder, and Hawkins.

I think the longer Monk waits, the better it bodes for UK. He could commit next May, and head to Lexington in June and totally bypass any of the local pressure in the interim.

If we get the class we're hoping for, I really don't care where they are ranked in the final rankings. It really won't matter. If Duke ends up with the guys they are expected to get, between our class and theirs, you won't see much of a difference in talent. Most years the difference between the # 1 class and #2 is small. Both of those classes will be good enough to compete for titles. The best thing about our class, I Love the returning guys we have coming back to mix in with the elite kids. A guy like Mathews will be very good in his SO year of college. He is going to be a good defender his freshman year, but then turn into an elite defender at the 2 and 3 his SO year. A guy like Hawkins will be in his fourth year and should be able to contribute something to the team. I expect the big Aussie kid to at least be a 2 year player and be a 1st team all SEC type of big during his SO year. Things are shaping up nicely for us and you couldn't really ask for any better in recruiting.

Indeed. When you add a class that features at least three top 20 picks (Fox, Monk, and Gabriel), plus a fourth guy who might be a 1st rounder (SKJ) to a group that features the likes of Matthews, Humphries, and Mulder, it's a telltale sign of another top 5 team and a Final Four contender.

What's crazy is that UK's next Final Four with be its 18th in school history. Seems like we were stuck on 13 for a century.

I remember when Cal first arrived, some dude called his show worried about recruiting - Cal cut hi off and said to the effect of "Enjoy your summer, don't worry about recruiting - I'll handle that, we'll be fine".

Yep.

Humphries has to be at least a 2 year player because he isn't eligible for the 2016 draft.

Ummmmm.... I remember this but as I remember ZZ you weren't much of a Cal fan when hired. you were an avid CBG supporter. You sure it wasn't you that called in asking this question?.

Pretty sure he would be. The age limit rule is just being out of high school for a year and since he's already here in the fall, he would be eligible. Skillwise I doubt he will be ready though as I think he is a 2 year player at best, and most likely a 3 year player

I believe the rules are slightly different for foreign players.

No. He has to play 2 years. Something about when his birthday is or something.

Yeah, he was born in January, if he was born in December he would be eligible for the draft.

I'd rather see Monk wait until Spring to see if we lose Briscoe/Ulis. Im not sure we need a guard other than Fox unless we lose one or both of those guys.

He played HS in the U.S., so that rule does not apply, just like Labissiere.
You have to be at least 19 during the calendar year of the draft and a year removed from high school to be eligible for the draft. Humphries won't be 19 until January 2017. His high school coach has already talked about him having to play a second year because of the rules.

I am not arguing with that. Someone thought he was eligible for the draft under the foreign player rule (18 year olds from outside the U.S. are eligible for the draft). He forfeited that opportunity when he played HS ball in the U.S. He now has to wait until he is 19, which won't be until the 2017 calendar year. So, he has to play two years, he is not eligible for the draft until the 2017 draft.
