King is a similar player to Boom as a true freshman. Similar in size, if you compare both as true freshmen. Boom has a little more straight ahead speed and burst, but their skills and talents are similar. King is going to be a good player for us. We need to hold onto Asim Rose.

Is Rose wavering?

O$U making a push for him possibly.

Look forward to the day when an Ohio kid turns down O$U to honor his pledge to play for UK. Not saying that's going to happen here one way or the other, because as far as I know, the Bucks haven't offered him. Of course, even if they did, and Rose or whoever else stayed with UK., we would eventually learn that the offer to O$U was "not commitable". They have to save face, right? It just won't do to lose an Ohio kid to UK.

Rose lives in Cleveland. At this point, Rose says he is solid for Kentucky. But Rose recently attended an event at Ohio State where he drew interest from their coaches. Sources have said an Ohio State scholarship offer is coming, which may or may not be true. According to Rose, Kentucky wants him as a running back but Ohio State wants him as a linebacker or safety. He wants to play running back, so that is in our favor. But the fact the he is in touch with Ohio State's coaches and showing interest in the Buckeyes tells me that we could lose him.

I guess this picture eliminates the question of whether or not King is big enough to play in the SEC.
And Boom has even gotten bigger. Staff are saying he could be a 3 down back for us now. It was comforting to hear them say that Boom was the guy, rather than saying "running back by committee".

He says he's solid with UK because of the comfort level, but also because he's being offered to play RB here. If OSU offers, it's going to be to play OLB (Urban Meyer has expressed his desire to play Rose on the defensive side of the ball, not the offensive side).

I personally stood beside and talked to all of our backs yesterday at fan day and King is definitely cut and athletic but Boom is chiseled and thick. The guy that really looked impressive is Horton, first thing he said was how hard he worked and how his body has changed and is no doubt gonna be much improved..also Kemp looks awesome. If our OL can show some improvement this group should cause lots of problems for defenses to stop..look for Horton to be a beast. Also all of these guys are class , very nice young men.

That's what I said. Glad you agree.

We have a nice group of running backs, each with a different set of skills. Boom and King are most similar. Boom and Horton should see a lot of 1st and 2nd down snaps. Kemp is dangerous on the edge. I think King is going to play. In a perfect world, a redshirt might be in order for King. But with Rose and Snell coming in next year, and Warren already committed the following year, they can afford to use King.

Ryan Timmons isn't standing with this group but I would like to see more of him in the backfield as well. His speed to the edge was pretty insane to watch when he was healthy.

Agree re King, he has to play. You just don't get thru a SEC schedule with only 3 RBs. I anticipate seeing walk-on Mahone too.

If I remember correctly, RT has lost about 9 lbs.

We need to see that speed used....and we will

Went back and looked at Mahone....is he a transfer from Notre Dame?

If it's the same young man he was a 4 star and his offer sheet was fantastic!!!

I hope the one thing Horton learned from last year is that he needs to run between the tackles, no cutting to the outside!

Timmons isn't going to be used as a running back. But King will be. This year.
