You win or you learn. WE LEARNED. Time to get back to work. Time to get better. Let's figure this out!

Glad we got this out of the way. No chance we lose to U of L now, IMHO. I'll gladly take wins against Duke and UL and a loss on the road to UCLA n the early season.

Checks out.

Right now Skal is getting beat down by Ulis and Brisoe. Good luck Skal!!!

Maybe will be more like the Brandon Knight team. A few losses but gel late in the year.

Back in high school, we used to have to run suicides after a loss when full effort wasn't given. Talk about rubbing your nose in it.....

Before this season started, myself, and a few others, said we would probably go into the tournament with 5-6 losses. If they learned from those, and are ready for the tournament, I am good.

There were posters calling us delusional morons if we thought more than 2-3 losses. I saw a very talented team with great potential for a FF or championship run, but with a lot of young pieces that would likely drop some games before we put it all together. I predicted 6 regular season losses. So far we've looked damn good once, like crap once, and ho hum against mediocre teams the rest of the time. I wasn't overly celebrating after Duke thinking we were going to suddenly go 40-0 or even 38-2, and I'm not freaking out now because a young team with their best big man out and their point guard playing hobbled got their ass handed to them in their first true road game. We will get better. We will lose games that have some of us shaking our heads and the usual suspects crying "the sky is falling!" We'll look incredible some days. And hopefully, in March, we're all clicking at the right time.

I'd prefer we stay at 5 losses at most because once we start getting above that, the chance for getting seeded in Louisville diminish. Of course this depends on how every other team pans out too. There are years when teams with 6-8 losses can still get one seeds.

This team not built for 40-0 and quite frankly a loss didn't bother me. Last year i watched the games trying to just keep us from losing instead of enjoying the ride....not doing that this year
first regular season loss since March 16, 2014. i'm still pretty confident in our coach and where he will have our team come March 2016.

Yeah, this is the way I look at it. Some posters think Cal coached a bad game, after claiming he outcoached K, after the Duke game. You just can't satisfy everyone.

holy cow - for once I have to agree with you.
I admit to being upset - even ticked - last night while the game was going on. But today, I woke up and, like quite a few people, realized it really didn't bother me. All we can do is enjoy the ride, as you said - and watch this team grow and learn.

This kind of thing goes a long long way for motivation! An absolute positive. We stunk up the 1st half of a game in high school @ home & was behind by 12. We never made it to the locker room. We ran suicides almost the whole halftime.......We won by 35 just saying

Wow, this may be the best post you have ever made on this board, congrats. Very well said and I can't say I disagree. I know just what you mean about not really enjoying all the wins last year as much as we should have as I was always tensed up that we might finally lose one. Sad that it had to happen when it did, this year we can just try to enjoy every game as they are played. Imagine the pressure those guys played under last year as the wins started to pile up.

Pretty hard to project things this far out from March. Heck' it's hard to tell even in March how things will play out. Last years UK team looked like the best "lock" to win the tournament of any team in a long time. The 13/14 team, I thought would get beat in round 2. But we beat an unbeaten team, and some other good teams to get to the championship. The Brandon Knight team didn't get it going until last week of the season. UConn won 2 championships in the last few years. And both times, they were in mid-March and people were wondering if they'd even make the tournament (at least the 13/14 team).

When this UK is clicking, they are one of the top 5 teams in the country. By March, I believe this team will be more than capable of winning it all. Learn to enjoy the ride. This is an unbelievable era in UK basketball.

I still think this team will go long way when March Madness hits! I love the way Briscoe and Ulis are playing together now. Ulis, of course wasn't 100% last night and it showed in his game! I love Ulis Leadership and how like last night telling Skal to wake-up and grab the rebounds! Ulis has been doing this quite often in first 8 games and bringing the leadership that he has been showing will help this team. This is something in last couple of years that we didn't see with the Harrison Twins. Murray will come around and he will start knocking down the 3's like he was in the latter part of the 2nd half last night! He will average nearly 20 ppg and Ulis has been shooting well this year. Briscoe's hustle and scoring 14-15 ppg and grabbing rebounds will help us and he was hitting FT's better last night. Lee has played better this year and before last night had a couple double/doubles from him. He also hustles and always grabbing rebounds. POY still getting to be 100% and he will be fine around SEC play and Skal is going to be fine. We have only played 8 games and will still probably end up at 11-1 before hitting the SEC Schedule and Kansas in January. This team will grow and get better as the year progresses and will be right there when March Madness is here.

I don't recall ever playing for a coach that DIDN'T do that. Heck, when I played baseball we used to have to do those even after a win before we got back on the bus.

Yeah the loss really didn't bother me. Losing to UCLA on the road doesn't burn as bad as any home loss, loss to UL or conference loss.
However, even though I'm keeping my cool, I'm still shaking my head at the lack of effort I saw. That was a head scratcher. There was never a time where our guys looked like they were confident in anything they did. UK is 10 times better than UCLA but they left their moxy at home.

You saw a potential FF team Thursday night? You see better than I do. I saw a FF team the night UK beat Duke but I saw a team on Thursday night that, if I didn't know better, was a borderline NIT squad. They looked really bad. I would feel different if UCLA wasn't a 4-3 team with a loss to Monmouth college but UCLA is garbage. They feel really good about themselves now but that was fools gold for them, they will get their dose of reality.
I think UK has the pieces to be a FF team but they looked like a team that was way too far away from that on Thursday night. I hope we don't see that team the rest of the season .
