UK Playing Arizona State for Non-conference Schedule

Dagnabit...you got me excited that I would see them here in Phoenix area.:(

You know you are bigtime when you do not have to do a home and home with another Power 5 program.

This game won't be easy, just look at who the head coach is now.

Living in San Antonio, I wish we'd have to play a return game there. Would make for a nice little road trip....oh well!

Our fanbase meets the best party school in the country ... what could possibly go wrong? :)

Our fan base collectively contracts an STD.
Really though, does anybody find it ironic that Hurley is recruiting the only kid that Coach K ever kicked off his team? Kinda comical.

This is an intriguing match-up to me, without spending a lot of time examining ASU's roster. I've always suspected Cal feels some connection to Bobby Hurley. He's always given him games at Buffalo, and goes out of his way to praise him. I don't know if Cal knew his father, or whatever.

I know this is UN-PC for a Kentucky fan, but I think Hurley is an up-and-coming coach. If he ever proved he could recruit at the very top of teh sport, he'd be in line for an elite job. Maybe THE elite job someday, if Kentucky fans could stomach that.

What irony that would be.

So right now we've got Duke, UCLA, Ohio State, Arizona State, Louisville, South Florida, Wright State, and Illinois State. Anyone else I'm missing?

Just curious but why the return game in the Bahamas next season?Anybody know if we are playing in a tourney with ASU and guaranteed them an opening round game down there?

Tough OOC. Not as bad as next year, since only Duke and UL are projected to be in the Top 25 (way too early to tell, though).

Variety is good , we should play more random power conference teams . Oregon , Iowa , Arizona , Ohio St. Etc...

that's the exact same thing we do(duke) every year and fan bases give us heck over it lol

Am I missing something? I thought ASU was Arizona State (as in the Sun Devils) not Arizona Wildcats. I'm not so sure this is a matchup to be all that excited about. Arizona or Gonzaga (even UCLA) would have been more exciting. ASU? It beats IU but ASU?

Well I could stomach Hurley as UK head coach long before I could Laetner...blech!

I love the way the non conference schedule is shaping up. Not too difficult and not U of L easy either. Plenty of good RPI boosting teams that are beatable by our top ten team.

Going to try and make the UCLA game? Anyone else out here on the west coast planning on going?

I'm thinking about it. I have a buddy that works in the athletic department there, so might get help on tickets through him.

Clearly there seems to be some sort of relationship between the two. Hurley has said some nice things about UK in recent times. Who knows though of course it's just wild speculation. And count me as another westerner who would have made the road trip for a return game. Barring a home-and-home with Utah or KU that's about as close as the Cat's are likely to come to the Front Range.

Can we transplant the cheerleaders and dance team from ASU to UK? Won't win a NC but wow.....

Good for ASU. I live in this area and want to see Bobby do very well here. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I can't remember Herb Sendek taking ASU to a place like Rupp Arena for an OOC road game during his ASU tenure.
