UK offense Stats 2022 per SEC

Just how ineffective has the UK offense been:
1. Passing 8
2. Scoring 11
3. Rec 8
4. Rushing 13
5. Points per Game 12
6. Total Offense 14
If this is your Offense with NFL caliber OB, RB, Center, 2 maybe 3 Wideouts, 1 or 2 tight ends then what is the problem with this offense? There is no talent shortage on this team contrary to what some people claim. Something is just not right to this point of the season.

The OL is really bad, but it's still philosophy.

People will just blame everything on the offensive line.

I don't know how else to tell you that this offensive line is very very VERY poor.

Your "NFL caliber" QB is such because of his measurables moreso than any of his on field results.

Your RB is definitely going to get drafted, but so did Benny and he has done nothing in the league to recruit with.

Robinson #2 is nowhere near as good as Robinson #1 was. Brown and Key have great potential, but they are true freshman.

Tie it all together. The hype train got outta control. The cart before the horse. Good potential, but anybody who looked in without blue tinted glasses knew 1) OL was going to be a weakness with 4 starters to the NFL 2) Robinsons production wasn't going to be easily replaced 3) Levis is still a project.

I’m afraid it is simple math:

(1) Combine an O-line/blocking scheme that allows pressure 1/2 a second too soon with;
(2) A QB whose decision making is 1/2 a second too slow . . . .

A mere second is a huge amount of time in a game that moves so quickly.

It’s incredible how many try to dig to find faults for these truly terrible stats

- OLine is poor but we whistle past rhe fact two of them started last year in a good line
- Now it’s Will has all the talent but poor vision and presence. But the same Qb was abele to see the field just fine when he had less guys to throw to

If you guys don’t think Scangerello and Yenser are the two biggest issues….you’ll see it get eons worse next year with guys leaving this offense

Both are inevitably going to get fired…I don’t see why we’d delay the inevitable

If you think Cox is an NFL quality center then you know less about football than my 4 year old granddaughter.

The two guys starting were in positions they should have been in last year. Horsey is a guard, Cox is a guard. Neither has had a good year , ESPECIALLY Cox . And Will was TERRIBLE at seeing the field last year . But instead of trying to develop that , Coen had him pull the ball down and run it when his primary target was covered (I’m not saying I disagree with that) . I say , let the NFL develop his pocket presence.

I agree with your premise (but I argue Cox going to C ....he's been fine at C snapping the ball...and his struggle blocking is Yenser scheme issues).

But regardless...who made all those decisions to move Horsey, move Cox, not run w/Levis, etc.. Yenser and/or Scangerello did all of this. So we should not feel a need to hold them responsible for bad decisions? I just laugh at those giving all these excuses for not just a lesser offensive unit....this is a huge drop in production and this offense is a ton worse than last year. If left alone while losing Levis, CRod, Horsey, Manning, etc...it's going to be a massively worse offense.

I agree with this . It’s obvious they didn’t have a competent left tackle . But you can scheme around one bad offensive lineman. By moving Horsey to tackle they made 2 bad linemen on that side . There was a time when Wilson was the “center in waiting “ . I think if we would have had a competent center and left Cox and Horsey at Horsey at guard we would have at least been strong up the middle. Could Wilson have been competent at center? Evidently not.
And don’t even get me started on Flax , he has been TERRIBLE all season and isn’t improving at all . Buford should have gotten more snaps imo.
It’s just hard for me to believe we missevaluated all of these guys.

Exactly...

1. Wilson while a drop off from Drake and Fortner....was never a disaster at Center. He's a bit small for a C and I get moving Cox to Center and hoping Jager Burton could fill in. But it's been 100% obvious Jager and Flax simply aren't ready. We should have gone with:

LT: Buford
LG: Horsey
C: Wilson
RG: Cox/Manning
RT: Flax

And we should have rotated in John Young and Jager Burton if we felt in relief they could help. And try to find packages for Goodwin with Flax.

We very much mis-evaluated the entire Oline situation. We basically played the year with only Manning at times being a solid at this spot. The rest were poor in their spots across the board.

2. Why we took the QB run out of playbook is stupid. Levis took as much punishment as he ever was going to take sitting in pocket.

Just a total cluster by the OC staff. They should be held accountable for wasting a good defensive season while interiting some good skill guys and not being able to construct a better gameplan to win for UK. Feels like Scang is more about NFL development than winning for UK. I have no use for mindsets like that.

Jeff P. who hit the nail on the head when he said Walker was going to be one of the best ever also said Cox could be one of the best centers in the past few years. Maybe he was better at his old position but he is no slouch at center.

Film shows that Cox has been so so this year.Whether it’s his fault or a coaching issue is the question.

I wish I could find the link to the Scang interview before the season started , where he said “Will will never learn to go through his progressions if he is anxious to pull the ball down and run “ . It’s probably true but , this is the last year we have Levis so it’s not like it will pay off for us in a couple years.

Its a combination of the weak O Line and the offensive scheme

Our O Line can't block for a long period, yet we continually run long routes and plays that take a bit to develop.

Every single concept we run has layered routes. Always deep, intermediate, and short.

The fact the QB holds the ball forever gives the casual fan the notion that it's just all down field stuff, but it is not true at all

He was mediocre last year. I pointed it out but people acted like it was madness because he somehow got tons of pub. He routinely whiffed blocks then and still does.

I think all posts, above, are close to saying the same stuff.

The Million Dollar Question: can current personnel get Coached up in a year to look better?

Maybe Burton, the biggun’ from Johnson Central and the 5 Star frost can greatly mature in 10 months?!?’
