Pretty simple really. Taking the NCAA Net, Sagarin, and Ken Pom rankings as a total, Kentucky is 13( 3 kenpom, 5 sagarin, 5 ncaa net). Gonzaga is 3, Arizona 6, Baylor 11, Houston 12. Those are the only teams below a total of 20. And only ken pom has been adjusted as of yet for Houston’s loss today. The next teams are Duke 22, Kansas 22, Auburn 25, Villanova 26, so none of them are really in the picture.
and if you include the RPI, which I admit seems to be a bit of an outlier(for example it ranks Kansas 1 and Duke 16), UK would actually by raw rankings be the 3rd 1 seed now with a total of 17.
UPDATE-Now that all the analytics have been updated, here are the top 48 seeds as of now, based upon a compilation of rankings in KenPom, NCAA Net, Sagarin and RPI. I included RPi but am tempted to discount it as an outlier, as it has more than a few anaomalies compared to the other 3 which are pretty consistent with each other, even though it helps UK as it has us at 4. Including the RPI bumps some teams up and down...like Providence, up by about 2 seeds, St Marys up 1, Texas down 1-2.
The lower the total the higher the seed
1 seeds: Gonzaga 10, Arizona 11, Kentucky 15, Baylor 16
2 seeds: Kansas 22, Villanova 28, Auburn 29, Houston 29
3 seeds: Duke 38,Tennessee 42, Purdue 45, UCLA 45,
4 seeds: Texas Tech 59, Illinois 65, St Marys 68, LSU 74,
5 seeds: Iowa 82, Arkansas 83, UConn 83, Wisconsin 87,
6 seeds: Alabama 89, Texas 95, San Francisco 97, San Diego State 100
7 seeds: Providence 101, Colorado State 105, Ohio State 111, Boise State 124
8 seeds: Michigan 126, North Carolina 127, Loyola CHI 133, USC 133
9 seeds : Seton Hall 133, Murray State 136, Michigan State 147, Memphis 150
10 seeds: Marquette 166, Xavier 178, Wake Forest 183, VCU 185
11 seeds: Oklahoma 186, Davidson 187, Virginia Tech 189, Oklahoma State 190,
12 seeds : SMU 193, North Texas 194, Iowa State 195, Notre Dame 197
and UK has potentially 3 more Q1 wins to get....
