UK now averaging 12.6 made threes per game. Now averaging 97 points per game.

Rewatched some 96 yesterday and I share the excitement. Pitino ran a lot with bigs at dunker spots (because that’s how everyone expected bigs to play) so I think Pope has implemented the best parts of Pitino while modernizing, bringing the big out to remove the shot blocking presence. TLDR: Pitino offense but potentially better and even more sustainable

I'm most impressed with how open our guys are when they finally get a shot. Pope's offense makes getting open shots look easy.

What’s crazy is tonight we had a lot of opportunities to make one more pass to get even better looks. Pope’s offense has far surpassed even my best possible expectations. I’m thinking we could be on the verge of becoming a juggernaut.

I agree.

UK is now averaging 97 points per game through five games.

We had a stretch where we must have missed 11 of 12 (3s). Rushed looks not in the flow of offense, and several consecutive bad shots/turnovers in a row. Real rough stretch when Kerr was running point there for a while. We might have dropped 125 if that segment went to plan.

I love this team. A lot. But picturing Pope's teams 4 or 5 years from now after he's had several successful recruiting classes and implemented his process with guys who have multiple years of it under their belt helping the young studs as well as elite transfers...wow. This is only the floor of the house that Pope is building for our future as a program, but the floor just happens to be Italian Marble.

TBF numbers are crazy similar to last year.

Main difference is the side of the ball no one is paying attention to........the defense this season has been light years better than last season.

Along with this is the overplaying by the defender, and our player having a wide open three.
Our guys need to continue with the ball fake. Teams are so worried about our outside threat they close so hard, we get as many one dribble into a wide open 3 as we can handle.

The one thing I want to see going forward is getting Carr more looks and more involved. They will need his 10-15 points in a lot of these tougher games

Just the matchups in my opinion. When we're playing better teams he's obvious a big focal point. Just not needed in a game like this when we can get any shot we want, and I think Pope wants us to continue to work to get these kinda shots so we can get them against the better teams too.
