UK Now Alone as #1 Favorite to Win title at 10-1

Dumb question: Okay, if I go to Vegas and bet on the Cats to win title right now, do I lock in the 10 to 1 odds? If the odds change, does it affect my bet in any way? Not that I am going to do this but was kinda wondering how this actually works. I know NOTHING about betting lines but apparently many of you do.

You are locked in with the odds given at the time you place your bet. i think. i'm not a gambler either.

College basketball will be way down next year and on paper we probably have more talent than anybody.

Other teams lost just as much.. There really isn't a single top-tier team that doesn't have several question marks for next season.

And because of that, Calipari's #1 recruiting class, possibly his best and most abundant class ever, gives Kentucky the nod.

Yes...you'll get a ticket for the odds on the day you bet and whatever that ticket says doesn't change, even though the odds will...you're locked in.

Without Bamba, highly doubtful

With Bamba, quite possible

I'd say with Bamba or a returning Bam (not likely), plus adding Johnson would put us in contention.

UNC, Duke, UofL, MSU, and KU are returning quite a bit and will add some key pieces. They will all have a really good shot, plus there are always some surprise teams that don't look as good on paper, but emerge during the season.

This is Vegas' affirmation of Cal's talent. No matter who is on our team, Cal will always put a viable team ABLE to make the final game. These odds are based on Fielding a team no older than 21. Crazy

Being dead serious when I say that I really wish we could hang banners for best recruiting class, or hang banners for being the favorite to win it all.

next year UK will have more talent then any school in the country
now the question is, how long does it take them to play like a well oiled machine
Exactly . The SEC will at worst be the 2nd best league in college next season with 6-8 teams making the dance so I think we probably only lose 1 non con game but we will lose 4-6 games in conference yet still win it . We will look bad at points but we will also look amazing at points and destroy some good teams early on due to just being much more talented then anybody else.

I don't see where Duke and UNC are returning a lot, especially Duke who played 7 guys and 5 are gone plus Jeter. UNC has no shot to repeat.

Agree, that UK should not be ranked #1.

That's cool but they usually put UK as one of the favorites every off-season since they know UK fans will put a lot of play on it.

Wichita St. at 20-1 returns everyone from a pretty strong team.

I'm going with the Maryland theory. They got cheated in 2001 and a stink was made. Came back and won it in 2002.

Not saying we will be as good as 2002 Maryland. But I think we are likely to see less impediments in our path next season, with the bright spotlight. Up to us what we make of it.

Then again I've been wrong before.

Agree with you. I think all this media attention will be helpful in the long run. I seriously doubt if we will see a repeat of what happened this year if we are making a run.

If Higgins calls a game you are throwing money away. I

Duke needs Duval and Knox to be a contender. Plus, they are not going to have nearly the experience their better teams have.

Michigan St is 10-1 odds as well. They return Bridges. Also adding a real good class headlined by jaren Jackson and lead for Brian Bowen. They are to me, the team to beat next season.

Berry, Pinson, Jackson, and Bradley may return for UNC.

Allen and Jackson may return for Duke.

Either team could still add more. UNC may add Knox. Duke could add Duval, Knox, or Bamba. Heck they could add all three.

Jackson is gone for unc.

I'd rather us being alone as the team hoisting the wood/gold trophy in 2018...I could care less who "favors" us :p
