Today in Paducah, any thoughts, any interest ? Cannot afford another loss, especially one to a low RPI !

Yeah I am interested, but my enthusiasm has dimmed somewhat the last couple of weeks. Agree the Cats cannot afford another loss, that would not be a good thing !!

FINAL.... UK 4 MSU 1, game called in the bottom of the 8th. Cats get back to back homers from White and Reks in the 3rd. Also get 2 runs in the 6th RBI doubles by Hairston and Mcneil.
Z Logue goes 5 and 2/3 strikes out 7 with no walks. UK now goes to 30-23 on the season, while Murray State falls to 25-28. Next up Mizzou on Thursday.

Got a win to stop the bleeding after 4 straight losses. Logue was outstanding tonight, tossing 5 plus shutout innings. Cats get 10 hits in 8 innings, 4 were extra base hits.Game was called due to rain in the 8th inning, as rain picked up after steady mist most of the last 2 or 3 innings.
Neil Pricke stated UK has won 30 games now for 5 straight years, a school record. That will probably save Hendos job for another year or so...... sigh !

Considering the weather, it was a pretty good crowd. There was a slow drizzle for most of the game.

I start the beginning of the year listening to every game. Sometimes I watch them, but I like to hear Price and don't like to be tied to the tv. Still, point is that I am extremely interested in the games. However, as the season goes on and as the team struggles my interest fades due to the frustration. Last night I had the game tracker on, but I wasn't listening to the game or really even following along, just going back to check it.

In terms of Henderson and his success... it is not a product of his ability to coach. It is a product of Madison being here for almost a quarter of a century and having little to no support to work with. Not to mention that college baseball has enjoyed a lot more parity in the past 10 years thanks to the new rule where every team starts the season at the same time. Madison did all right for the hand he was dealt, but if we're honest, the results were less than mediocre. We averaged 29 wins with Madison over the course of his career, but that doesn't mean that it was great. Especially considering we went to just 2 NCAA tournaments. Henderson is averaging just 3 more wins than Madison each year. Madison was .535 over the years and Henderson is just .568 with an overall record of 256 wins and 194 losses. If you take out the anomaly year where he won 71 percent of his games then his record drops to .545.

I hate when people (not you guys) act like we're doing well in baseball when all they are really doing is trying to sell us crap by telling us the crap isn't as bad as it used to be. It is still crap! I love baseball, and I love Kentucky... I want nothing more than Kentucky to have a damn good baseball team, and I absolutely hate that it is allowed to wallow in mediocrity.

Great post, I was likewise following the game tracker on the MSU site. I did switch over to UK and Neil Price the last 2 innings. Agree we should be 5, 6 wins more this season at least.
Do not know if we fail to reach the Ncaa tourney, that Mitch will let Henderson go. If we do make the Ncaa party, he certainly will not. I always want the Cats to win, and share in the frustration of blowing games we should win !

Right now the CATS sit at ninth in the league and play Missouri this weekend...unless they sweep--which I don't expect, and honestly wouldn't be at all surprised to see them lose the series--they will have lost the series against 3 of the four worst teams in the conference. Along with losing to every instate school but Murray, I don't see a path for making the ncaa tourney. The talk is they need 16 conference wins to get in which means they need to sweep the Tigers unless they do well in the sec tourney and I don't know how much those count...one way or the other if the new stadium(?????) is going to be started this summer or fall sometime, I think it would bethe perfect time to start fresh with a new face in the dugout. New stadium and playing in the sec should be a great drawing card.

Henderson will not be fired. He is no John Cohen but has done a good enough job in my opinion. I wish all the negative comments would stop and just support the Cats. They have enough starting pitchers to win a NCAA Regional.

So you'd agree it's a waste if they don't even make the NCAA Tournament?

Some of the Sec network talking heads are saying if UK gets to 15 league wins they should get in. Even though they lost series to Arkansas and Auburn, the series wins over Florida, USC, and a surging Alabama counters the losses to the 2 bottom feeders.
Currently UK has an RPI of 45, with a SOS of 22, pretty solid actually. A series loss to Mizzou would be a deal breaker tho.
Also, it looks most probably, we will face Bama in the Sec tournament, we will be either the # 8 or # 9 seed, probably the 9. We host Missouri and Bama hosts So. Carolina.

I was surprised that the Cat's RPI was still in the mid 40's. I guess even though they were swept at OM, those weren't bad losses. I have seen projections of UK playing in Louisville, Conway SC, and Raleigh NC. I also saw one where they were in the Next 4 out. IMO they must win the series against Missouri, if not sweep.
Henderson should be let go if the Cats fail to reach the NCAA tournament, no question. However, they have a pretty good shot , at least to make the NCAA's, if they win this weekend's series, and win 1 game in the SEC tournament !

How can you say he's been good enough? Have you ever seen this team play? Yes, he's the fastest coach at UK to hit 200 wins but that's fools gold. Two tourney appearances in 8 years is a joke when you consider Louisville has been to Omaha three times and is actually considered to be a favorite to win it all this year. I've been a season ticket holder since 2009 and I do support this team, but I will not continue to support an inept coach who had no business getting his contract extension. If anyone thinks Henderson is a good coach, go look st his pitching stats since he's been here. And he's suppose to be a great pitching coach.

You can't be serious on GH or winning a regional , my guess is they aren't even going make it.

Henderson has one year on his contract... convince me he should get an extension. Show me the body of work that he has compiled that impresses you so much that you believe he's done "good enough." Sell me the product and if you can do so then I might not be as negative, but from the body of work that I have seen, not to mention the game management, I don't know how you're going to be able to justify giving him a contract extension.

I wish I could like this a hundred times.

You're also the ONLY person I've seen who thinks we have decent pitching. If we had good pitching we wouldn't have lost all of those terrible midweek games. You've been making idiotic posts for years and it's obvious nothing has changed.
