I think Cal has changed his philosophy on offers after 2015. He held out for many of the top players and struck out on most. (Still got enough) Why not offer more players that are close in talent and take the first commitment? I certainly trust his judgement, but it seems every year we are waiting until the spring for commitments. Sure would be nice to have 3-4 commits going into the spring.
I wonder is Fultz or Alkins would be willing to commit early? I know Monk is going to wait, which is fine, but I'd be curious to see if Cal could seal up Simmons and another wing before the Spring.
Yeah. He's just starting to impress. Could be any kind of good as he grows and improves. The kid is a rising star right now and could be one of the top guards in this class. That would be great to snatch him up in August.
Let's take them all.
Positionless basketball.
Ulis(5'9)
Monk(6'4)
Fultz(6'5)
Alkins(6'5)
Lee(6'9)
A way more talented and athletic version of ND last year.
I could definitely live with that. Bring Tai, Charles, Derek, Dom, and Mychal off the bench for a group that would have been a starting unit under Gillispie or Tubby in his twilight UK years.
Very true. That's why Cal stopped recruiting CJ Leslie and went with a little late bloomer named Anthony Davis. Fultz could be a similar situation albeit probably not to THAT extreme. What I love about Fultz is he is a late bloomer. For every guy like Dennis Smith Jr, who has been on the radar of recruiters since he was 12 practically, there is a guy like Fultz who blooms late and ends being a better pro prospect.
Would like to see us get in on more guys like this, especially since it appears Duke is going to have an on-going leg up with the early bloomer types because of the Team USA stuff.

He's the dude that can shoot real well, correct? Anyone know his shooting %?
Thanks.
I agree wholeheartedly. If I'm not mistaken, Fultz never even made varsity till last year. Since then, he has exploded onto the scene. What I love about Fultz is he is a late bloomer. Good post. You mention some really good points. I think fans put too much stock in the highlight reel dunks. I kind of look at it like comparing Larry Bird and Dominique Wilkins. Wilkins would wow you with unreal athleticism, and he was a great player. Having said that, he wasn't near the player Bird was. Sometimes substance is better than style. I'm not saying Fultz is better than Monk, I don't know. What I am saying, Fultz would make one hell of a Kentucky Wildcat.I liked the comparison made between Fultz and Monk and that Meyer felt that Fultz was, at the very least, equal to Monk. Only point he gave to Monk was that he is a better highlight film dunker but that Fultz was as good and could get even better than Monk by the time they are ready to come to college. Will be interesting to see what develops with those two in regards to UK. Sounds like Cal isn't going to sit back and wait but take the one who really wants to be at UK and commits first. Opinions?
Ah, my bad. It was Quincy Miller he let up on. Got my years mixed up.ummmmm.......no.
Works for me.There several good guards just need some commitment.
And he's become a much better shooter behind the arc. Last year he was a scorer but he had games where he really struggled with the long ball.malik monk at the global challenge this week:
GM#1: 8-15, 4-6 3FG, 20 points 20 minutes
GM#2: 9-20, 4-11 3FG, 2-2 FT, 24 points, 29 minutes
GM#3: 8-14, 3-6 3FG, 2-3 FT, 21 points, 25 minutes
dude is such a smooth and efficient scorer
