"UK, Kansas Should Play EVERY Year"

ill take the occasional champions classic matchup every three years and the big 12/sec challenge over a home and home.

I like having to wait for it.

Ku and uk were made for neutral sites. We saw yesterday the bull crap a home court gives you.

Play them in KC one year and St. Louis the next on a neutral floor. Split the tickets 50/50 every year. That would be interesting.

That all sounds great and fine and blue skies and balloons but we do have a conference schedule to play. That coupled with the toughest out of conference schedule in all of college basketball puts us at a huge disadvantage. Lets see IU wants us every year. Kansas now wants us every year.NC absolutely wants us every year. UL may not want us so much anymore.UCLA wants us every year. The point being is that puts us at a huge disadvantage. I'm not complaining but just last night we are ahead by 9 with 8 minutes and change to go. Kansas does not hit a fg for the next 6 minutes plus and with 3 minutes to go they are ahead. Nope, I want us to have every advantage or at least a fair shake.

Which, if any, would you drop to play KU? I'm not as big on UCLA or UNC to be honest.

Good point man, it's great that we don't give a fk and will play anyone. But it could/will hurt our seeding.

With that said, I don't mind not being a 1 seed. When we are, the committee has their pick at match ups/storylines.

I have felt this way and said so many times, I'd be in favor of replacing UNC with KU. I'm done with the former. I personally would want a home/home series. I know some UK fans don't want to admit it, but that was a fantastic environment. Our guys rose to the occasion. Played hard. That series would be the same way, either place, every year. So much pride on both sides. It'd be good for college basketball.

Yeah if they can find a fair whistle Im all for it but to watch all our players foul out plus Kansas get bailed out the whole game nah ill passs going to their place agaim.Im cool with that garbage! Fair whistle we are 10-15 points better then them scrubs!

Except Indiana. We're too scared to play them remember? We'll play UCLA, Louisville, North Carolina, Duke, Ohio State, etc, but the Hoosiers are just too big and bad.

I love this conference battle thing, it's pretty interesting.

Would love to have the big six all do this in round robin middle of the conference match.

This part stuck out to me

"Kentucky, surprisingly, leads the all-time series between these teams..."

What's so surprising?

...22-7. I think he meant it was surprising that UK leads the series by that big of a margin. Not just that Kentucky leads the all time series.

I thought the same thing...surprised they've only played each other 29 times.

We used to play them every year in the 70's and 80's, UK used to beat the crap out of them and it was like playing Ole Miss, I mean one year Darnell Valentine and KU blew a win against Macy and D. Anderson, it was a joke of a series. I remember Larry Brown beating UK I think, I know Kenny Walker beat them in Louisville. Roy beat Pitino his first year awful, Self beat Tubby in elite 8 game. Overall UK has beat their tails.

Think Rupp died when UK was playing KU. Those games were not that special until the last few years.
During the 70's and 80's, the KU game was really not even considered a big game, it wasn't

Growing up in the 70's the big games were IU, UT, LSU, Alabama, Notre Dame. UL wasn't on schedule yet, the SEC teams rotated but those were the big one's. Arkansas came on board in 90's and UL in 80's
UNC and KU are teams you want to beat due to pedigree but for most part not that much interest.

Norte dame vs Kentucky is a very good unsung rivalry.

Lost to them at south bend a few year back, last years game. Believe there were some heated contests back in the day to

I'd love a home and home this same weekend before the Super Bowl every year. I don't care how hard it is to win Lawrence or what their "advantages" are. It would be a great game most years and when we did win at their place it would be awesome.

I like variety, don't want UK tied down to some longterm H&H except for UL. I like the UCLA H&H, after that, maybe on to Zona? Texas? Duke?(will never happen with K there unfortunately) Maryland? SMU might be interesting for however long Brown is there. I'd like to see some old guard teams back on the schedule like Purdue or Iowa. I wouldn't mind getting a crack at Gtown.

Yeah, I'm sure Cal would love to go to Lawrence again and have four players foul out.

That's precisely the reason he doesn't like home-and-homes.

I'd def love to have a home and home series with them. Its the 2 most historic teams in college basketball.

The only thing I've ever seen Cal truly hate was Bloomington but that was more about the idiots in the crowd acting stupid and screaming vulgar stuff at his kids and not one person on IU's side standing up to calm it down at all. Then reports came out that adults with children in the crowd were also treated horribly.

You simply can't stand for that shit and Cal doesn't. But I think a place like Kansas could be acceptable and a great test for what is usually very young teams.

I think not just Kansas, but we should be playing North Carolina and yes, Clown U (Indiana) every year like before...plus UCLA and Duke for good measure (with still room to spare for a few Mickey Mouse clubs). I mean, there's a British Premier League in soccer for the very best teams, why not have a similar deal this way?
