How is South Carolina not ranked? I know they lost a game last week at UGA but they followed it up with a VERY impressive win at A&M.

One could argue they should be ranked ahead of us. They are 20-3 now. This will give them even more fuel for their game coming with us on Saturday in Columbia.

We have essentially the same ranking in each poll. SMU and UofL bump us down 2 spots in the AP poll.

Frankly I'm surprised we managed to stay in after the collapse at UT. I suppose it's always better to lose early in the week than during the weekend.

South Carolina's non-conference strength of schedule is ranked 320th per RPI and 287th per KenPom (both systems state that South Carolina's only played one game so far this season against a top 25 team). That probably has a lot to do with them not being ranked in the AP poll

South Carolina beat A&M on the rd. That was a really quality win. Do agree, they played nobody in non-conference.

6 teams getting 1st place votes. Wonder if that's a record. LOL at KU still getting 1st place votes. Must have been Goodman.

Because polls are meaningless.

To some extent, I agree. But, it is my opinion that the polls are considered when the Selection Committee is ranking teams. Therefore, I want UK to be ranked fairly in the polls. And right now I think we are ranked about right, maybe should be 18-19 tho. Everyone thinks our loss at UT was "horrible" but they are RPI #111. Providence lost at #143 Depaul, has 6 losses and is ranked #20.

We are ranked because A. There aren't 15-20 teams better then us and B. everyone is losing games , everyone .
exactly. I did expect to fall out, to be honest. But will take this every day, twice on Sunday

They probably took in to account that game was a rout until UK lost focus and gave up that 21 point lead. Sure, punish them because they lost, but it's not like UK went there and was just thoroughly beaten.

Here's how absurdly close teams are this year:

We make one more bucket and we have the same record as Kansas and a win on their home court...and they are still getting first place votes.

Lots of teams lost, and it's clear we are a top 25 team. It would have been typical to Unrank us though.

I'm surprised but happy. I'd say it's fair. Basically our season is being defined right now by 3 games. OSU, Auburn, and UT. The latter two were just awful losses. Both games we should have won. An RPI of 111 is a bad loss, period. Especially when you were up over 20. Those losses will haunt us right through Selection Sunday. Take them away, and we're 20-3, probably in the Top 5. That's the way it is though in most any season. It's always a small number of games, maybe just 1 which end up making the difference.

I'll take it. The only thing that matters is the seeding and the draw in the tournament anyway.

South Carolina is unranked and projected to have a lower seed because of their SOS. Beating A&M on the road was a great win but they will need more and they get UK with a RPI of 19 at home. We need to take this opportunity away from them and beat them.

Kentucky is ranked because we have the best back court in America and the pollsters know we are thus dangerous.

Holy crap; can you imagine last year's Kentucky team versus that top 10?

We missed the magic by a mere season, fellas.
