LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)

In a release on Saturday, the University of Kentucky announced that they were self-reporting a violation of an NCAA bylaw.
According to the report, student-athletes "received compensation for work not performed as part-time employees in the patient transport department at the institution’s Albert B. Chandler Hospital from the Spring 2021 semester thru March 2022."
After finding out about the possible violation in February 2022, several departments in the university began an investigation.
The violation was limited to a short time and a small group of student-athletes "who had concealed their use of a clock-in/clock-out system at the Hospital."

So, I thought the NCAA had cleared Wright and C Rod. 1 gm suspension for Wright and 4 gm suspension for CRod. Is this not the case?

So is it possible that Wright playing in the UF game and yesterday could cause UK to forfeit those games if the NCAA deems Wright ineligible after their investigation?

i would guess that UK and the NCAA had already worked out the punishments
at least that is what is sounds like

i said in the Crod thread when all the speculation was going on that it sounded like an NCAA violation
1/3 of a season is usually the max without getting ruled ineligible

So nothing has been said officially that CRod has been cleared to play by the NCAA after next weekend’s game with N. Illinois?

did the NCAA officially say Wright could play vs UF
relax CRod will be playing per reports

no reason to get your panties in a wad over old news

Im not worried that CRod will play v Ole Miss as Im sure he will.
However, I would like some word that the NCAA agreed with the self imposed punishment by UK for Wright and CRod.
I dont trust the NCAA.

Imo the school declared the players ineligible then petitioned for their reinstatement. The petition was granted. There were just a number of games attached.

The school did the exact same thing with basketball players like John Wall and some others.
E mail was sent to the NCAA on Sept. 2nd, post UK punishment. I guess what you are saying could be true. I would just like to see the NCAA document stating such. I guess that’s too much to ask?

Stoops kept saying his bosses and their bosses (NCAA) was waiting to hear from. Why the certain amount of games to sit out was what it is. Could have been handled as 'suspension in violation of team rules' privately I suppose but someone thought the world needed to know.

Honestly these things should be made known. If it was Louisville or tn we would want to know about it. It was a dumb mistake and they paid the price and now everyone can move on.

They could very easily ruin their careers and get their school in big trouble. do they not know this, or do they even care?
I ask myself that a lot, yet we've seen cheating in sports hundreds of times, thousands actually.

No way this would end anyones career. Look at what a bunch of players have done in college. Newton and Winston have done way worse than this didn’t effect them any. This is a small blip.

The person(s) that signed off on their time sheets should be fired. There's no way they didn't know this was going on.

No, the self-reporting happened long ago. The news of the self-reporting is just now coming out, the games they served was the NCAA's recommendation.

I sure hope the NCAA fixes these problems of players getting paid for doing nothing! Now, let’s get some NIL money together to pay recruits to sign with our school!!!
Surely you see the difference between being paid for doing nothing when you are lying and saying you will do something versus being paid for the use of your name, image or likeness.

I see a slight difference in true NIL. But, what we are seeing is pay for play, not NIL. And, I don’t see much difference in pay for play and being paid because you are a football star. And, don’t call me Shirley.

Yeah, let's quit overpaying players for work so we can give them money through NIL. Brilliant.

I would have played them from the start. The NCAA has no power any longer and if that actually changed, who cares or will remember if we have to vacate a couple of wins on paper 4/5 years down the road. They’ve done nothing to UNC or Kansas, I’m sure they won’t even get to UL for running a whorehouse before they dissolve.

Not the best idea, especially when we are finally sniffing the SEC championship.

I think a receiver named Carruth killled his pregnant girlfriend. That ended his career. Hernandez killed some folks career over. It would be interesting to list the players who ended their careers.

the NCAA vacated 2 seasons, including a final four and national title, for UofL running a whorehouse

At this point, why would any school self report anything? Unless you are UT and doing it to get rid of your HC for “cause”. Just stay quiet and take care of it internally if it bothers you. Otherwise just shrug your shoulders and move on.
