I get tired of hearing we need to recruit better, get bigger, stronger, faster, yada....yada...yada. That's all fine but I think a lot has more to do with coaching and developing talent. We have had discussions about this over the years including most recently when we saw what Franklin did at VANDY and we saw what Strong did at UL.
After watching IOWA last night which is where Stoops played his college ball. I looked at the recruiting just since Stoops has been here and by Rivals Rankings they have way less talent. It looks to me like they have recruited more on Jokers level. They don't even have a class signed that has broken into the top 30 and Stoops has had 2. They only have 3 ea. 4* recruits in the same time Stoops has had 15 ea. 4* recruits signed.

Even if you look back before Stoops got here they were not that much better and looking at Rivals 2016 class ranking today IOWA is ranked #29 with 0 ea. 4* recruits and 20 ea. 3* recruits vs UK who is ranked #23 with 3 ea. 4* recruits and 16 ea. 3* recruits.
I'll give you that IOWA has had there staff in place longer but they don't really have that much better talent (signed). I did not get to see IOWA any before last night but I was very impressed with their discipline unlike what I saw from UK this year. I saw a very aggressive defense from them that tackled and covered very solid unlike we saw from UK. I'll also give you the fact that we were young and weaker in some areas but damn we look bad and my fear going into next year is are we going to be any better based on who and what we have returning as far as coaching ?
Note: This is not a fire Stoops thread. It's a we better get some much better coaching, player development, discipline, etc. because talent is not lacking, its become an excuse.
