good choices -
I had thought Charles Durning would be great as Rupp - but he's dead. My other thought was Robert Duval.
I still like Pesci as Pitino, but I guess Affleck is ok -

I tried to go by looks first (the best I could). Then who I thought could get the personality of each down. Some were very hard to come up with and others might not be age appropriate for the time the coach was here.

^Some good choices. Had to LOL at the ones for BCG and Sutton, though, very fitting. I'd actually love to see Stephen's bro Alec as Cal in a skit on SNL, yelling "The sharks are after you, and YOU'VE GOTTA SWIM! SWIMMMMMMMM!" or one of his many insane random metaphors at awkward times when it doesn't apply to the situation at hand.

Pacino's getting a little too old now, but he would've been a brilliant Pitino 10-15 years ago. I can just picture him as the broken down, bitter old coach in the twilight of his career that once had it all, but through his own poor choices has lost everything that he once held dear and is now detested by the very people that loved him and helped make him a star.

Surprised no one's brought up Gary Sinise for Clyde. I also think that Nick Offerman aka Ron Swanson from Parks & Rec would be great as a coach based on Clyde in a mockumentary-style sitcom.

Robert Duvall as Rupp, Andy Garcia as Cal, Pesci as Billy Clyde, Laurence Fishburne as Tubby, Robert Downey, Jr. as Pitino, Steve Carell as Sutton, and Gene Hackman as Joe B.

I thought maybe he was too old for you.
no - considering I'm a huge fan Sam Elliot, Harrison Ford, et al, age has nothing to do with it. [winking]

Anyway -
Rupp - Anthony Hopkins or Robert Duvall (only because Charles Durning is deceased) - although Oliver Platt could be a good choice
Hall - this one is actually kind of difficult; not really coming up with someone I like for this role
Sutton - Gene Hackman
Pitino - I jokingly said Joe Pesci, but Al Pacino is an excellent thought
Tubby - Danny Glover is good - SLJ too intense, and Fishburn too Shakesperean
BCG - Gary Sinise great thought
Cal - Andy Garcia

Duvall could probably transform himself into the dramatic reincarnation of Rupp.

There is no choice for BCG other than Dennis Hopper. Or maybe I just think that because he's now typecast as a hopeless alcoholic basketball junkie.

Have to include a Peter Frampton cameo as despised Florida player Matt Walsh.
