he is spot on . We have a few great shooters like Murray , Ulis and Willis ( Mulder as well ) and then we have a few good ones like Poythress and Briscoe ( who won 3 pt shooting contests and made them regularly in HS ) and then we have guys like Hawkins and who should just never shoot them . I would take the shooting off this team over any Cal team while at UK with the exception of Knight , Lamb and Miller .
Mulder does not matter, Poy is not a good shooter, Briscoe isn't either...no one should shoot 3's except Murray and Ulis for the most part. They should shoot 10-12 a game combined, and maybe Willis shoot 1-2 off the bench.
Shooting is one thing that I think we can count on to get better , we can hope certain players get better and learn to do certain things better, shooting is something that (like Jerry Reed said)when you're hot you're hot and when you're not you're not.
We need at least three guys making them consistently.
Ulis and Murray will eventually see them fall. They are good shooters.
The third guy should be Willis off the bench.
If we can get three guys shooting around 40% at the end of the season, we become very hard to beat.
That's on par with 2012. We had three guys that shot in that range (Lamb, Miller, and Wiltjer) and then the other guys shot low 30's or less (Jones, Teague, MKG).
So, if Ulis, Murray, and Willis can shoot around 40, and Briscoe, Matthews, and Poythress can shoot in the low 30's at least, we will be in good shape.

I know why you use the adjectives you use, because its you (and we love you for it). But, we dont really have any proven great shooters.
Ulis was very good last year but he has already taken 1/2 as many as he did last year and we know he is currently way below average but he definitely should be above average, I do not see him as great this year.
Murray could get there but I'd bet his shot selection prevents his % to ever rise as high as it could be this year.
Poythress has not been a good shooter for 3 years now, in fact, he hasnt made a 3 pointer in a real game since March 21st, 2014... ended up 8-33 for 24%.
Briscoe did win a 3 point contest, I watched it, but he is hitting 23% from 3 and add to that fact he is only making 41% of his free throws - that player is far from a good shooter. He also only attempted like one 3 a game in HS.
As #8 said, as of now Mulder doesn't matter.
I do agree with your last line, 2011 was very good, dont forget Liggins hit 39% as well that year.
