Good evening folks. Although everyone is probably focused on UK basketball with games against Tennessee and Texas A&M later this week, wanted to chime in again regarding baseball coverage because the Bat Cats open up this weekend.
For some this won't be new information, but for others it might be. To my knowledge no one in the past has put much effort into covering baseball for this website but that's going to change this season. We had a baseball transfer story that no one else had in the fall (Joe Dudek transferred to UK from North Carolina) and have put out a few previews and features for the season.
There will also be game threads on this board for most games. Game threads will definitely be posted for the home games, which I'll be at all of them once basketball is over.
So with that said, here's the main reason for the post; I talked to a source today and the Cats will go with the standard weekend pitching rotation: Zack Brown on Friday against Wofford, Dustin Beggs on Saturday against George Mason and Kyle Cody on Sunday against Dayton.
Beggs led the team in wins last season with seven, Brown threw three complete games (two of them were shutouts) and Cody was drafted No. 73 overall but decided to come back to school. They make up one of the most veteran (and talented) pitching staffs in the nation.
