Take away a pick 6 by the O and a safety by the ST and UK’s D is giving up about 15 ppg:

Looking at the 8 teams ahead of them, none of them have played the schedule UK has:

Buckle your seatbelts …..

You keep thinking, and posting, your unbridled optimism. It’s fun to read another fan base’s thought process.

Here’s hoping for a good game.

Unbridled optimism, thats real cute. Just call it what it is, defensive statistics.

Was not trying to be cute at all. You are very enthusiastic , and optimistic.. those are good things. No offense intended.
Im a fact finder and UK has plenty of positive stats on D and would on O had we had more than 1 game out of 7 with CRod, Levis and Robinson in the same game.
PS The Big 3 on O will see you Sat night.

If you remove the Tennessee game, Bama averages 13 ppg allowed. LSU 18 if you remove the Tennessee game.

Did you also deduct the safety by O for intentional grounding in end zone at Ol Miss?

Remember CR running over the punk TN LB with the long hair last year. Win or lose, want to see plenty of that for us on both sides of the ball.

Thats 10 pts attributed to the D that absolutely shouldn't be!
Thus instead of 115 pts in 7 gms, in reality its 105 pts given up in 7 gms which equates to exactly 15 ppg and that with a SOS of 49 according to Sagarin.
This Kentucky Defense is for real!
According to Sagarin of the 8 teams giving up fewer points than UK only 3 (Ohio St., Iowa and Iowa St) have played a tougher schedule!

In fact, unless Iowa and Iowa St have given up a pic 6 and/or a safety the only team in the country that has given up fewer points and has a tougher schedule is Ohio St. ! So an argument could be made that UK has the 2nd toughest D in the country! And that by just 1 freakin point 104-105 unless of course OSU has a safety or pic 6 which I doubt.

When your offense scores fast and a lot, the defense is going to have worse stats. When your offense is slow and methodical then the other team doesn't have as much time to score.

Few things we have to do, and these are important:
- maintain drives to eat clock and move the chains
- convert 3rd downs
- get 6 in the red zone, not 3
- get more stops on 3rd down and get off field
- win turnovers
of course / this could be said of any game, but could be vital here.

Ohio St has a tougher schedule than Kentucky? That's definitely wrong. They've played about the weakest schedule in the nation.

Saturday should be a good game. A good defense vs a good offense should make for a fun Saturday night.

Did a little non-biased stat comparison by the numbers, Tennessee has played slightly better offensive teams than Kentucky so far this season based on average total offense ranking coming in at 53.3 compared to the average total offense rankings for teams play by Kentucky at 64.83. This excludes the one FCS team played by each team. Of these six games, Tennessee has given up an average of 23 points per game compared to Kentucky giving up an average of 19.2 points per game.

Kentucky has a very slight edge on teams played based on total defense with an average total defense ranking of teams played by Kentucky of 63.5 versus Tennessee who has played and average total defense ranking of 66.2 across each teams six FBS games. During those six games Kentucky has scored an average of 25.7 points per game compared to Tennessee scoring an average of 47.7 points per game. Of course these numbers are skewed considering this is based on current rankings and not rankings prior to either team playing the team in question.

I am no expert, but I do believe that the Tennessee defensive numbers may be a little skewed due to teams being forced to pass more than usual in an attempt to try to catch up. That said, with the exception of the Alabama game, Tennessee manages to still keep the points against average fairly low. Should be interesting to see how this weekend plays out.

Some other stat rankings by comparison to date-

Tennessee Red Zone Offense - 4
