in the polls, has a rather pedistrian 4-4 record at this time. They have been one of the countrys' best teams the past 3 years, realizing the dream of making it to Omaha in 2016.
They may not have quite the fire power as last season, but they are still one tough bunch. That being said, I believe the Cats could take the series this weekend, IF our starting pitching is up to snuff. We are currently swinging the bats with great confidence with a .343 team batting avg. We are also 17-23 in SB attempts, while our opponents are an amazing 0-4. Not a single SB has UK allowed in 2017.
I am really looking forward to this weekend series, and am thinking we could be at .500 come Sunday evening.

Their resume and stats to this point are extremely unimpressive. They lost 2 of 3 of their games to Loyola Marymount, who has gone 2-4 since then losing to Tennessee, Washington State (x2), and Michigan. They also lost to USC Bakersfield and St. Mary's. Outside of the sweep of Tulane, who has won one game all year, they've really struggled. They have 4 players on their team with over 15 at bats that are hitting .250 or higher. They are really struggling at the plate, especially with extra base hits. UK has 29 extra base hits on the season while the Gauchos have just 8 through 1 less game. They do show a bit of power with 6 home runs, so UK will have to be careful with that, especially Sam Bush and Austin Cohen, both of which have 2 home runs and will be hitting from the left side towards UK's short porch. However, if you thought UK had a strikeout problem then you need to look at the Guachos... UK has 55 through 9 games and UCSB has 60 through 8. Our weekend pitching has struggled at times. This is a good weekend to make sure we keep the ball down and near the strikezone and we should be able to limit the damage that UCSB does.

However, UK will get a test from their pitching. All three of their weekend starters are returning pitchers from a year ago. Noah Davis is a sophomore who started 15 games last year. He's done extremely well this season and we should see him tonight. Joe Record and Kyle Nelson should be the other two. The weekend starters have done pretty well with Davis and Nelson both having ERAs hovering right around 2.00. Record has struggled with an ERA at 7.00, and he hasn't gone over 4 innings in his two outings. I wouldn't be surprised to see them move off of Record and possibly use Steve Ledesma on Sunday. Ledesma took over for Record last Sunday and has an ERA under 2.00. Early for a change, but the Gauchos really need to win this series, as do we.

going to be pretty decent weather next two days, but today is pretty damn cold. Good luck to the California kids dealing with March in Kentucky!

UK up 1-0 here in the bottom of the 3rd after Carson hit a single. Bases loaded 1 out.

UK allows the Gauchos to manufacture a run off of a single, a fielder's choice, an error on a pickoff play and then a wild pitch. 2-1 UK in the top of the 4th.

If the pick off is not attempted, the runner would have been at 3rd, but the Bush single would have scored him.

I'm in Gulf Shores and can't get live coverage. Who's pitching for The CATS? Appreciate up dates!

Hjelle has thrown 7 innings with 8 strikeouts and just one walk. An outstanding outing so far.

Threatening here again in the bottom of the 7th. One out with runners on second and third.

Kentucky gets the win 2-1. That was some darn good baseball by both teams. Both starters went very deep in the game. In the top of the eighth inning The Gauchos use a little bit of small ball and threatened Kentucky. Kentucky went to the bullpen and Cleary got to strike him out throw him out to end the inning. That's some classic baseball right there
