Based on what I've seen online, UK fans are going to have a decent (if scattered) showing, even at the smallish Pauley Pavilion. No surprise with BBN. Anybody on here going? I'm a CA native and am in the mood to buy beer for UK fans making the trek out West. Can't wait to do GBB in the House that Wooden built.

I thought about it but ultimately decided not to unless I could score some good tickets for cheap... about a 9-10 hour drive for me. I hope a lot of UK fans show up though.

UCLA fans don't show up period. If you look on Ticketmaster, there are probably still 1,000+ tickets left for this game and that's a lot in a small arena that seats 12,000.

Also its a very early start (6 pm local time) so it will be a late arriving UCLA crowd I imagine. The UK fans that are going though will make sure to be there in plenty of time for tip.

I bet we have 1/3 of the crowd which would be pretty amazing considering it is all the way in LA.

It was either UCLA or Kansas game, I decided on the Kansas game

You are brave. I expect a tough environment with a lot of dumb drunk KU fans and I am predicting us to lose that game. That, and at Vandy are the two I got us losing on paper. At A&M and at LSU will be tough too, but idk if I will predict a loss in either of those games.

Should be a lot of UK fans at this game on Thursday though. I hope the guys put on a good show for them and beatdown UCLA again, although I'll take a 10-12 point win or even a 1 point win in LA. I expect the typical crooked west coast officiating.

Just show up. You'll get in and for way cheaper than online.

That 'Small' arena seating 12,000 , is larger than half the arenas in the SEC.... OM, MSU, AU, UGA, UF, UM, A&M etc. Plus about 500 times more tradition !

And?

That doesn't change the fact that UCLA fans don't show up. That was the point.

Neither do the fans of the SEC schools whose arenas I listed ! Ole Miss is building a new arena because Cal mentioned squirrels in the visitors locker room on national TV, embarassed the OM administration.

Okay.....and?

Are you a UCLA fan or something? Did I offend you?

NO, and not offended. Just stating facts, we play in a bush league Basketball conference, it is great to play a team with as much tradition as the Bruins. And in their building, probably for the 1st time.

Got the KU and @ Vandy games like you but I would think @ A&M is going to be pretty tough too. At LSU not looking as bad as earlier though right now but watch them and their fans get it together for that night against us. Those still could be 4 possible losses for us this season but hope not.

Pauley is not the most impressive gym in the world. It is old and cavernous, despite not being as large as other arenas that belong to blue blood programs. That said, there is a lot of history in that building and it is as quintessentially "on-campus" as an arena can get. Given the kind of gyms UK has insisted on playing in for the last few years, this is as odd a choice for a game as I can recall since Cal arrived.

Not that I'm complaining. We are going to be screaming for UK....

Big Blue Nation covering the Globe. Those going to Pauley, have fun and be loud!

I'll be there! I live/work about 45 minutes away from Pauley and am leaving work early to make it. Can't wait. Has been a while since I've seen the Cats play live. I'm actually a UCLA alumni and did a graduate program there but grew up in Lex so i'll be in UK blue. The Southern California Alumni group is meeting up at 3 in O'Hara's which is a pub/bar walking distance from Pauley. Would be cool to meet some of you there!

Right. I would've thought they would have this game at Staples Center or the Honda Center in Anaheim. I guess it's a true home-and-home with UCLA coming to Rupp next year? I like it.

How far is the walk from O'Hara's to Pauley P? Can you park there for free and leave your car until after the game? Parking is $12 at the parking structures near Pauley.

It's about a 10-12 minute walk through Westwood from O'Hara's to Pauley. It's under a mile. Unfortunately there are very few places near UCLA to park for free. Street parking is usually difficult to find in Westwood Village where students live. Street parking is usually limited to 2 hours/ There are various other pay as you go parking options in Westwood. There is a parking structure on Broxton and Weyburn that I believe is a flat rate of 3 dollars after a certain time. I cannot recall if that is after 5pm or after 6pm. There is another lot at Broxton and Le Conte avenue that may also have a similar deal.

Father is from Harlan, but moved out here for his pastoral job. I was born and raised out here---but raised right to cheer for UK. Been a huge UK fan since my first game at Rupp vs. Duquesne in 1982 UKIT.
