Did not realize Lowe’s was *that* bad. Another shooter and Chandler taking a second step and I won’t be worried but man those do not inspire confidence
He had a lot of bad shots out of nesscessity. His form isn’t bad and with better players and offense he will shoot an easy 35+% IMO with better selection.

A lot of bad/forced hero ball type shots out of necessity.

He was near 40% in high school and 35%ish his freshman season.

With more shots coming within the offense, and more talent around him, I’d expect him to get back to 33-40%. If you watch him shoot, he doesn’t have poor mechanics.

We need two more shooters to replace the reliability that we got from shooting from deep that Brea and JR were giving us last year.

We can try to compare Buttler and Lowe or Johnson, or Carr/ AA to Dioubate/ Jelavic or Williams/ Garrison but bottom line we still need two guys to replace Brea and JR.

Williams alone( the only reliable shooter on the roster) is not enough.

When you have only one guy reliable from outside that’s easy to defend regardless what schemes you run. I would argue even two reliable shooters depending on opposition is not crazy good ( a triangle and two can easily counter that). Last year we thrived when we had 3 shooters on the floor ( on on top and two in the corners to balance the floor) .

YES !! You need several, to help insure that at least one is hot on a given night !!

If you go watch tape on Lowe, this is the only fix he needs on his shot. I won’t be shocked if he shoots about 37-38% from three this season
Yes. Similarly, I thought Travis Perry rushed far too many of his shots this season. I know he can shoot much better than he did. He just needs to adjust to the speed and flow of the college game. I hope he can do it ...

I agree with you. I think we are going to be a very good shooting team and if you add Wilkerson it becomes a serious, serious problem trying to contain us

Lowes stats last year really seemed to be an outlier. He was a 35% shooter the year before and basically a 50% shooter in HS.

Lies, damn lies and statistics.
For example, according to the above stats, Perry shot 36% 3's in conference.
It was during conference play when it seemed he started rushing.
So 36% isn't great, but it certainly isn't trash.
He'll work it out.

I think we will nestle into the 34-36% range from 3 with our current roster.

On the flip side, we should be able to get more offensive rebounds and finish better around the rim compared to last year.

This past season, we shot 37.5% from three (24th in D1). We have 1 player (Williams) on the current roster shooting at or above that (Dioubate has too small a sample size to reliably project to next season, IMO). If we are wanting to shoot 30-35 threes a game, we need better shooters than what we have.

I’m a big fan of Perry. My thoughts are that many of his misses this year were rushed shots. That is my only point. I truly think he can shoot 40+% from three, when he settles into the college game.

Me too, but I got more panicky later in the year regarding his shooting.
The fact is, he was fine.

We are far better off being a team that shoots 34% from 3 and plays defense than being a team that shoots 39% from 3 and doesn’t. And that’s not even mentioning the advantage provided by having more guys to can create off the dribble.
