A lot of chatter on Twitter that he gave a verbal to Izzo on his visit today.

folks that also apparently should know (from this site), saying this isn't true and MSU doesn't feel as good about their chances as they may have this morning and the longer is plays out the less confident MSU is going to feel. Gonna have to wait and see. He may end up playing there.

This. For the record, they also said that this comes from somebody on MSU's end. He may very well end up at MSU, and nobody should be surprised if he does, but as of right now, that's not the case.

If he did good good luck o him. Upuntil 2 weeks ago we had no clue who mark smith was. It would probably be a better fit for him especially with playing time. Even if it's not true, I still think we only get two of the 3 anyway, and I'll gladly take johnson and baker. Personally, give me baker simply because he's supposedly a lights out shooter, and Johnson because he can play right away is 6-7 and considered a sg who could moonlight at other spots in the rotation but will mainly back up diallo and he has college experience to boot. If we get those two and bamba I'll be tickled to death. I hope Knox ends up at Missouri with his butt buddy porter since we aren't considered the favorite anyway.

If you never lose out on anything, winning become a numb, useless feeling. Wouldn't wish that on an enemy.

Going to State seemed to work out great for Bridges - what with getting served up like a filet-O- fish to Kansas in the tournament and all.

There's something to be said for the kids who understand they can be the final piece of something special. Smith could be just that at UK, if he wants it. Bridges had his chance to do just that last season, and chose the delusional vision of high-level success with his friends instead.

Overall, I would love Kentucky to get Cam Johnson from Pitt. At 6'8 and a shooting guard that shoots 41% from 3 point and averaged 12 points a game and the best part is he has 2 years left if he attends UK.

Knox at Mizzou over Duke, UNC and FSU is a win for the SEC. The league needs to step up and change the perception that outside of UK it's terrible. SEC needs as much talent as we can get, it's a plus that schools finally started hiring legitimate coaches. What's good for the goose is good for the gander

Yeah I think they could really change that perception if there was ever an NCAA tournament where the SEC got 3 or so teams in the Elite 8...then maybe they'd start showing some respect.

And could have possibly had 4 had Arkansas not got jobbed against UNC.

Cam Johnson starts at the 3 from day 1. Plays great defense, 2 years experience in the ACC, and 42% from 3. Baker and Smith are being recruited as backups who will be here for more than a single year.

The only player left that will impact next season is Bamba. None of these guards will see much playing time. It is a case of needing a player so the one being recruited must be good.

You don't think another guard can crack the backcourt of Green/Diallo/SGA?

I think Johnson could, but I hope we go back to a more traditional lineup of 2 guards, 2 forwards, and a center. Or 2 guards, a couple of combo forwards and a big PF. I think the 3 guard lineup hurts us defensively unless you have some real size in the backcourt with elite athleticism and length.

After watching Vanderbilt in the NIKE Hoop Summit, he's got to be on the floor for 25+ mpg. He's so active on both ends of the court. I expect his final ranking to dramatically move up, possibly top 10.

I think it's possible that the three guards we have on the roster can split 80 minutes. But I'd feel a lot better with another. And it wouldn't shock me to see that other guard get 10-20 minutes a game.

Never want to put too much stock into one game, but if you are going to judge a HS player on postseason performance, the Hoop Summit is really the one you want to look at. The no-D Mickey D and Jordan games are all over the place when it comes to good or bad performance meaning much about how well a guy will play in college, but it's been pretty rare for someone to excel at the Hoop Summit and then struggle in college (Skal was an exception).

I'm more excited about next year's team than I was previously because of how Vanderbilt played Friday. For one thing, he annihilated a zone defense, which we know UK's going to see a ton of next year. He did exactly what Cal tried to with Briscoe against zones, but he did it better. For another, it's been a long time since UK had that type of playmaker on the frontcourt. When you have a passer like that at forward, offense tends to come easier, and even if you don't have much shooting, you still tend to get better shots.

I see Vanderbilt and Diallo as the keys to next season, maybe even more than Bamba if he comes. Diallo needs to be a consistent scorer, with at least a little shooting ability, and Vanderbilt needs to be a creator, on both ends. There's enough talent elsewhere (beyond perimeter shooting) to feel comfortable, but if Diallo and Vanderbilt stand out, then I think the team can hit a very high peak.
