Tubby Smith, I remember when he was here. And how Dick Vitale would say Tubby Smith a future hall of famer baby. I thought that was pure BS then & I still do. I mean he's in his 26th year as a head coach & he has yet to recruit a player that he has coached in a Final Four. Don't get me wrong .I hope Tubby makes the HOF. That would be another UK guy enshrined in the hall. The more the better. But based on his current resume, I don't think he's worthy.
Eddie Sutton, unlike Tubby I feel like Sutton is worthy. The only D-1 coach with 800 wins not in the HOF. I like to compare Sutton to John Chaney who's in the HOF. Sutton has more wins, a better winning pct., Sutton has taken 3 teams to the Final Four, Chaney never took a team to the Final Four. So why is Chaney in & Sutton's not ? And based on the fact that Sutton was the first to call Uof L little brother, that alone makes him Hall of Fame worthy in my eyes. I would like to see both Tubby & Sutton in the HOF, That would be 2 more UK guys enshrined. But will we ever see it, & are they worthy ? If they make it that would give UK 5 coaches in the Hall.

Good god this is due to turn into a pissing match. The drunk probably won't make it tubby on the other hand deserves to be in the hof. The guy can coach bitch all you want about how he can't recruit blah blah blah, but he's done it the right way he deserves to be in.

I believe Tubby will be sometime after he retires from the game but Sutton, I don't know.

I was the biggest tubby hater around during his later years, but I think he'll get some sort of recognition for the title he won and because he was the first black head coach at Kentucky.

In addition to his wins, Sutton took two teams to the final four. And he was the first coach to get four different teams in the NCAA, including Creighton and Arkansas back in the days when there were half as many teams in the tournament field. No championships. But I think more likely than not, he gets in.

I like Tubby a lot, but I'm not sure he gets in as of now. Whatever he accomplishes at Memphis might determine his status.

Regardless of how we feel about him, he has taken 5 different teams to the NCAA Tournament (6 if he gets Memphis in). If he gets Memphis into the NCAA Tournament, I believe he will be the only coach in history to take 6 different teams to the Tournament. He took 3 of them to the Sweet Sixteen with 1 winning a championship. He also has over 500 wins and should hit 600 next season.

He is probably one of the top 5 African American college coaches of all time. He already has passed John Chaney in wins and Chaney did it staying at one school and he is in the HOF. The only coaches ahead of him are ones who spent their whole Division 1 career at the same school and had multiple Final Fours to go with their Championship. I think he definitely will get in.

Facts? Are you sure you are suppose to be posting on this voard.
Nice job. I think you are right.

Sutton was who Sutton was. That's a deep thought, right?

But the dude could flat out coach. I mean he was a really good coach. Not saying he's HOF worthy. Not sure about that.

I cannot stand Eddie Sutton. People think it was bad when BCG left, it was nothing compared to when Eddie left. What he did to this program, what he could have done driving drunk and getting into an accident while at Okie State and what he did to manipulate the Athletic Director at USF into firing the coach and hiring him are all part of the reason. That SOB should never be in the HOF, but I have a feeling he will.

I think Tubby gets in too. The College Basketball HOF is not the hardest HOF to get into. Some of the coaches in there are a joke.
