UK apparently has nabbed a transfer from Clemson, Holt Jones. Holt Jones is a right handed pitcher in the 2017 class out of California. He was the 72nd best player in CA and 28th best righty. Holt is 6'8 235 and spent his time in Clemson as a relief pitcher. He had 33 appearances and 54.1 innings pitched over the past 3 years. He had a 4-1 record with three saves and a 3.98 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .201 against him. He had 37 walks to 63 strikeouts.

I am not sure if he will be someone who can immediately step in or if he will have to redshirt and sit out a year. Either way, probably a decent pickup for the Cats.

Jeff, is there anyway you can give us an update on this guy and whether he'd be eligible to play in 2021 or would have to sit? Is UK looking to get him a waiver?

I thought baseball didn’t have the transfer and sit out rule. Thought that only applied to football, men’s/women's basketball and hockey (of all things).

I think it does... I believe UK had a kid a couple years ago that was a transfer and he sat out a year and then got drafted and never played for UK.

Here he is: https://ukathletics.com/sports/baseball/roster/andrew-miller/4344

Not sure if he sat because the transfer or because of his arm.
